Winter equipment

Post by Jukipo »

The manual says the german player has the option of ordering a study into the effects of a Russian winter. The decision should trigger in July. I have played three games to August or further and I have not got winter study decision. I got meeting with Hitler in October to discuss winter equipment, but my chance to get any was 5%. [&:]

The chance is probably that low because the all knowing Fuhrer was believing the offense is over in november. The chances would have been slim in reality too to convince him of anything else.

Yes, Hitler was against winter preparations historically. But my point was that I never got a possibility to invest PPs to change his mind, because decision about ordering a study into the effects of a Russian winter didn't trigger in July.

Hi Jukipo,

If you don't commission a study a lot of other decisions relating to winter equipment are shut down, hence your 5%.

I'll take a look. Anyone else not getting winter events?

Cheers,
Cameron

I've restarted quite a few times and I'd say that I get the July winter choice event 40%-50% of the time.

Ditto. Maybe once in several games, but I can't recall that it had any consequences. I notice too that the German and Rumanian Mountain divisions have zero winter preparation level (where I think WITE gives them some?) - is that intentional? Thanks.

Hi,

I've checked this and it's working fine.

If you didn't opt for the decision and either ignored it or delegated it to your Chief of Staff it defaults to a 'do nothing' - no study - which results in a subsequent chain of winter decisions not firing.

It's probability based with an increasing chance of occurring from rd 5 onwards. It should appear, at some point, 100% of the time so it's possible, maybe..., with a series of unlucky rolls you might miss out. I'll tweak it upwards just to make sure.

Cheers,
Cameron

[edit]I have to correct myself here. Found a sneaky bug which was preventing the decision chain occurring in certain circumstances. Fixed in the coming update. There were a number of other decisions that were affected by this so you may well see some new ones.
