RE: LRCAP as escort

<t> As the Japanese player in the subject encounter I have to say that I (we) had no idea that LR Cap would act as an escort to every incoming strike. Rules certainly are silent on this (as they are on many things). I would have bet money that this was a bug that needed addressing.<br/>

RE: Naval Movement

Oops, quick correction to last post. I only set one way point at two hexes, not two.

RE: Naval Movement

<t> Just an update. I just set a Surface Combat TF to run at full speed to a destination four hexes away and with home port as Tulagi which was 5 hexes from the destination. <br/>
This would have been a total movement of 9 hexes. I set two way points at two & four hexes. The TF ended the turn at ...

RE: Naval Movement

Thanks for the info. Looks like setting way points caused my boys to slow down. Is there no speed penalty then for running BBs through coastal hexes as "spence" suggest there should be??

Naval Movement

<t> My SCTF with 4 KONGOs + 2 CAs with escorts only covered 6 hexes at night instead of the expected 9 and I'd like some ideas as to how that happens. Details: TF was at sea, orders were to move at full speed to Sinabang (enemy held, direct & absolute)which was nine hexes away and their return home ...

RE: new Beta

Thanks.........took a look at the "read me" file and while the new upgrade does a number of good things it appears the supply push out of India was not addressed. Perhaps a house rule is needed for the next game.

new Beta

<t> Sorry if this has been discussed but I can't find any info on just what the new 2013 Beta changes. Upgraded a few weeks ago and can see a few changes but would like a list if one's out there. Most pressing is if the supply push out of India was addressed. It's fall '43 in my PBEM game and my ...

RE: Atoll Invasion

<t> Thanks again for the help but please note that my post really only had one question..................."after the initial invasion does any future unloading of troops cause all units to shock again". I think I understand all the other aspects of Atoll invasions so no need to reply with that info ...

RE: Atoll Invasion

Thanks all for the help. All the previous posts on the subject seem to indicate that "any" troop unload will trigger everyone to shock although it is a bit fuzzy. I'll go with the "supply only"" option and see what happens.

Atoll Invasion

<t> Need some advice. It's 2/43, PBEM, I'm Japanese and just invaded Canton (for the third try) with 5 units. Got a 2-1 but had 3000+ casualties. The US reg there has AV of zero as do most of my surviving units. One of my regiments is not fully off-loaded so my question is..................do I stop ...

RE: Nicks vs Naval targets

<t> Thanks again. I did find a post that "LBA not classed as an attack bomber (B-25, A-20 & 26) and flies a low level mission will fly with half the usual bomb load" (7.2.1.10) Didn't see anything about stafing and no bombs except on a sweep mission. I'll go with setting the altitude a bit higher ...

RE: Nicks vs Naval targets

Thanks...............Dumping their load makes sense as I can't believe they would have been sent out empty. Should have broken off at that point and not got flak'd. Can't have everything.

Nicks vs Naval targets

<t> It's july '42, PBEM, I'm Jap. I trained up some Nick pilots for naval attack. Thought they might be good for stopping a FTrans mission but the computer sent them against a CV TF with "no ordinance"!!! Should have had 2x250 kg<br/>
Do Nicks not bomb ships?? Is this a bug? Attack was from level ...

RE: foolish question; WITP vs WITP-AE

<t> Howdy from Houston. I've also played SPI WiTP a few times. Even re-did all the rules. AE is way ahead of even the new decision games WiTP. Now playing my first game (PBEM) and as the Jap it's overwhelming but a dream come true. The US player has a much easier time early on so whoever plays the ...

RE: Counter Invasion Forces 8.3.5

Indeed the 61st does upgrade from Sally1c to Helen1A. I missed that............thanks. Guess I'll go ahead and do it as I've built about 25 but Sally has a little better range and same load (4x250kg). Won't hurt to have some extra 1c's for replacements as I did stop building those.

Counter Invasion Forces 8.3.5

<t> New player in first game ever. PBEM, I'm Jap and it's 5/42.<br/>
I've seen the info on the forum shown as "Emergency Reinforcements" and it covers the trigger hexes for East Australia. Question is...does anyone know the trigger hex for west coast Australia? How far south can you go? I'd hate to ...

RE: New Beta fix #338

Wow....nice group. Just wanted to point out the beta is needed for a good game. We tried multiple tests with Jap bombers at 10, 14, 15, 20k. Nothing worked due to the Bug that gave US contact at 160 miles allowing every fighter they had to be at altitude and intercept.

New Beta fix #338

<t> Hi All, this is my first post.<br/>
<br/>
First let me say this is a great game, but....<br/>
to any that are not aware..........if you're playing this game without the new Beta, the US Navy has 1944 RADAR & fighter control capability in 1/42! I found this out the hard way (see post "this is ...
