RE: Installer doesn't work

<t> So, I apparently don't have my original installer download anymore. I was able to simply copy the entire installed game from my old computer to my new computer, then apply the 1.05 patch, which seems to have worked find. <br/>

But it does seem a bit nuts that I can't re-download the ...

RE: Installer doesn't work

Nope, this version doesn't work either. Same error, the "rt/bin/jetvm" directory does not exist.

If this is just an update to 1.05, then I need the 1.0 installer, which doesn't appear to be available to download anywhere that I can find.

RE: Installer doesn't work

<t> Ok, it looks like I just downloaded from the wrong place. I went to "My products", then clicked on "Registered" under "Downloads" next to Hannibal. The only download available from there was "HannibalRC-UpdateRelease-105beta.exe", which is the one that didn't work. I'm downloading "HannibalRC ...

Installer doesn't work

The 1.05 beta installer (the only one available from the Matrix download page) does not work. It is missing files. After install, the game won't start because it says "FATAL ERROR: Unable to load C:\Hannibal\rt\bin\jetvm\jvm.dll". In fact the entire jetvm directory is missing.

RE: Hoorah! Commander: The Great War is Updated!

<t> So, for anybody who is interested, they really seemed to have screwed up cross-platform multiplayer with this update. I had a game where I was playing on my PC and my opponent was playing on his iPad, we'd been playing for months with no problem. Then the update comes, and the game reports to ...

RE: Hoorah! Commander: The Great War is Updated!

Can anyone at Slitherine/Matrix confirm or deny that all in-progress PBEM++ games have been destroyed by this update?

RE: Hoorah! Commander: The Great War is Updated!

That's... terrible. I'll try to prevent steam from updating, but if it's too late, can I download the older version from Matrix/Slitherine? Because, otherwise, um, this is kind of unacceptable.

RE: Hoorah! Commander: The Great War is Updated!

Um, if you update, you lose all your in-progress MultiPlayer games? Is that really true??

Gotta run home and turn off auto-update on Steam or I'm going to lose my game I've been playing for months :(

RE: No pre-combat summary screen? Or, how do people play?

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>It is rare for a party to combat having total clarity and certainty.<e>
</e></QUOTE>
I think it's pretty clear I never asked for certainty. Clarity, yes: this is a game, games have rules. I like to know the rules to a game when I play it. If I wanted to play a war ...

RE: No pre-combat summary screen? Or, how do people play?

<r> Thanks for the helpful responses.&nbsp; I did read that combat example thread by Barthheart, and while it is very useful, it talks more about the <I><s></s>process <e></e></I>of carrying out an attack than the process of <I><s></s>deciding how and where<e></e></I> to do an attack ...

No pre-combat summary screen? Or, how do people play?

<r> I just got Decisive Campaigns, and I am finding it pretty much impossible to start playing, due to the lack of any pre-combat summary information.<br/>
<br/>
Each unit has several (I think 7?) statistics (morale, supply, etc.) which vary from 1-100 (or higher in some cases). The manual has a ...

RE: Every other wargame developer just got schooled

<t> I think the lack of stacking and the fact that the movement and combat phases are combined actually sort of cancel each other out.&nbsp; It means you can still get multiple eligible units to attack your target (you just have to do them one at a time; and usually the ones you attack with first ...
