FAQ for Eagle Day playing the British?

<t> I have looked all over this forum and I find plenty of tips for BoR and Eagle Day for the Germans, but I can't find a thing for the British side playing Eagle Day. Is there a FAQ or tips and tricks for the British as far as intercepting the German raids without suffering undue losses or getting ...

RE: ED tips playing the RAF for a noob

<t> My main goal is to try to shoot down more planes than I lose. That means dogpiling on raids, particularly the smaller ones. I figure I'm going to get bombed no matter what, so try to take down as many as I can. I seem to shoot down more planes using direct over bounce, but take heavier losses ...

ED tips playing the RAF for a noob

<t> Just picked up this game for a bargain during the holiday sale. I can find all sorts of tutorials and tips for the BtR part of the game, but none for ED, especially as far as properly defending Britain. Can anybody here point me in the right direction or give some tips as to playing as the RAF ...

RE: Tackling AI Roaming KB

<t> But if you don't whittle them down by a few carriers in late 42-early 43 they will give you lots of headaches later. Either they will start sending carriers to your rear area and disrupting the SF-Hawaii shipping lanes or the US-Australia convoys way down south, or they will unite into huge ...

RE: Sardaukar's Newbie Tutorial AAR for Newbies (vs. IJ AI)

<t> Any chance of perhaps updating this guide a bit to account for game version upgrades/changes? I decided to fire the game up again (for the holidays while I'm off from work) and am discovering that while much of your guide is still valid, there's a few things here and there that aren't anymore ...

resting air groups?

Is there a way to set individual air groups to rest so they don't take part in any missions? Or do I have to manage every one manually in my air directives and simply not include the ones I want to rest?

UPDATE: Never mind, I finally figured it out.

RE: field artillery?

Another question - how do I include naval gunfire from amphibious units in my attacks? I read up on some of the threads and moved them close to areas where I thought they could reach, but so far I haven't seen anything happening with them.

non-motorized support units with armor

<t> Can anyone tell me if putting non-motorized SUs, like engineers or non-mobile AA, in armored divisions slows them down (less movement points)? Or do they just "hitch a ride" without affecting the unit's MPs? I know that in many other similar games it's strongly recommended to keep non-motorized ...

order of ADs?

<t> When setting up ADs manually, is there a particular recommended order they should be set up in? For example, if I set a recon AD followed by an air superiority AD before I do any other ADs, does that mean the recon missions go through first followed by fighter sweeps? Or does the order in which ...

field artillery?

How do you make use of the field artillery support units within HQs? I can't attach them to anything other than an HQ, and I can't figure out how to use them in combat.

RE: problems loading scenarios with patch 1.01.01

No AV software running. Problem is with loading scenario files, not saves. Don't have Operation Torch, just the base WITW game.

problems loading scenarios with patch 1.01.01

<t> Just purchased the base game, installed and runs fine, no problems. Downloaded and installed the v1.01.01 patch, now get message "can't open a file. 2" anytime I click on a scenario or try to load it. Also the scenario descriptions keep superimposing themselves over each other. Uninstalled whole ...

AK vs AG?

I noticed most of my (Allied) AKs can be converted to AGs. Is there any benefit to converting them to AG as opposed to leaving them as AK? Should I convert all, some, or none? Just wondering what most players do with their conversions.

RE: The psychic AI

<t> The issue isn't just with LBA cover. In the game I'm playing as Allies, the AI has an affinity for raiding Midway with surface CA forces and sometimes a light carrier or two (the AI also sometimes likes to pull the same at Johnston and Palmyra). If at any time I send a small reinforcement or ...

<t> I would not wait until group withdrawal before releasing the pilots to reserve. I usually go through my training groups about once a month and send to reserve anyone that's trained up into the 60's or so in their respective specialties (air-to-air, naval bombing, scout, etc) and then put in more ...

I've been known to jump in and take over the Japanese side if the AI is getting really stupid, just for the sake of a little game balance. But usually when I let go of the controls, the AI goes back to screwing ...
