Air to Air combat results

Playing my first game as Russian versus the Axis AI and the VVS is getting slaughtered in Air to Air combat.
It's fall of 43 and I'm still seeing kill ratios of 30, 40, even 50 to 1 in fighter versus fighter Air to Air. I have the AI set to 110 so figured it is was it is. Then I noticed 12 Ju88c ...

Re: Night Harassment Bombing

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it. I don't really care, just wondering if I was doing something wrong.

Night Harassment Bombing

I think I'm doing something wrong as my U-2VS are getting slaughtered for no result. Has anyone had any luck with night harassment bombing and if so, how did you do it?
Thanks

Yes it was a great series. Looking at pictures of the game it's incredible how far computers have advanced.

Re: Axis Hs129B help requested

The effect of air to ground cannons and rockets on tanks is sort of an unknown. The claims of the pilots don't seem to match the results on the ground. Although Stalin did put a bounty on Rudel so maybe there is something to his 500+ tank claim. The consensus seems to be air to ground in WW2 was ...

Re: Ranges (units of measure)?

In the us Army we used meters for distance (klics) and all the maps were meters. At least in the 80's and 90's. Not sure what they use now. It was a mix of metric and standard. Industry is the same way now, a mix of metric and standard.

Re: Airbase bombing and interception

Personally I hated the old air war system, I am now a big time fan of the WITW dual air war system and how it’s applied to WITE2. It’s another sub game to learn and master. Granted it works a bit better in the West and clearly shows how the Western Allies air power is better than the Axis and ...

Re: Airbase bombing and interception

As for the real-time interdiction system in WitE1, it’s not coming back. We experimented with it in the early days of WitE2 and we rejected it. There were too many issues that came up with it so we went a different way. At this point, there’s no going back on that. That said, we are committed to ...

Sigh:

Sorry, but I don't understand why there is any reason to "sigh" here. We are just trying to have a friendly and hopefully productive and fact-based discussion about some aspects of game mechanics. If you are right, then you will have been right on the internet about a computer game. If I ...

Re: Airbase bombing and interception

I really liked interdiction in WitE 1 where if the enemy had high enough recon on you and passed a check they could interdict that unit while it was on the move thus cutting down its MPs. Its a lot more dynamic and realistic as you dont really know which unit will get hit and at which point ...

Re: Air war is high effort

I might be a black sheep, but I don't like at all the entire air system with the separate phase.

My feeling is that there is: no flexibility, rather odd mechanics and the planes themselves do relatively little a part from blowing up.

WITE-1 had a better air system, even if quite abstract and ...

Re: Air war is high effort

GS, Naval Interdiction, and some recon. Everything else seems to be a waste of time after turn 1 for the German side.
And some of the combat results (flak losses, unescorted bomber losses) are head scratchers.
I've played many games, exclusively against the AI, and stopped trying to get decent ...

RE: Resupply of armoured units?

It was my understanding that even though the supply unit is not represented on the map, the blocking unit causing the damage is an actual enemy unit. Also, units that are cut off show the supply line as red, so there must be some programming determining this.

RE: Resupply of armoured units?

<t> I'll admit is it a bit frustrating to see column after column get wiped out from using a blocked supply route. The first column, ok, but the second one? I think eventually there would be a sign "Huns past this point" or something like that.<br/>

RE: Resupply of armoured units?

<t> Having armored units withdraw to resupply would appear to be very hard to work into the game and really, what is it adding? Yes, we cycled thru supply points in the rear at night, but usually by platoons, not as a company, and the supply points usually consisted of two vehicles very close to the ...
