Assorted Questions

Greetings all,

A few questions I have been pondering over.

In the Presence of the Enemy
-Do you use this rule? I have never used it. Its seems to have the benefit of mitigating deep, and some might say somewhat unrealistic, excursions behind the nominal naval frontlines. Yet, wouldn't it have the ...

Isolated Reorg Limits issue

Greetings all,

Pete and I are playing a game utilizing the Isolated Reorg Limits rule which I personally like overall. We have a situation where a Chinese unit is both isolated and out of supply in the south east mountains. There is no incentive for the Japanese player to kill them as they are ...

Assorted Question for Veteran Players

Greetings all,

Game Length
-I have played the game over 10 times and have never reached 1944. The early games tended to end based on Manchuria, either Japan collapsed or the USSR was overcommitted and died at 41' Barbarossa (house rules cured this). Other games ceased due to an Oops (Germany in ...

Re: Assorted Questions

Thanks for the response.

On the first question I meant...when on average do the two US Economic gear ups tend to occur? For instance, in my game its May/June 1941 and the US has not geared up at all yet. Probably will occur in July/August 1941. Is this about right? Am i behind where the norm is ...

Assorted Questions

Greetings all. Been getting back into WIF action and as usual, its a blast (have more time now). A few questions:

1) As the CW, do you tend to setup convoys in the Bay of Biscay or do you avoid it? Drawbacks include easier access (than the North Atlantic) and higher sea boxes for the Germans and ...

Matrix WIF and the Millennial and 2008 Annuals

Greetings all,

Always been curious about the 2000 and 2008 annuals. I know they consist of Patton in Flames and Factories in Flames info etc, but how do they both relate to Matrix WIF? Are they worth purchasing in that context? Thanks.

Help! Which version to use..Naval Regression Error

Hello all,

Pete Garnett and I started our first game in years and were doing quite well until we hit a snag in March/April 41 that killed it. Experienced a 'Naval Regression Error' which only seemed to kick in when Germany/Italy had naval units in the same port (though it could have happened ...

Re: 2023 WIF AI Progress Report

I personally think I have already gotten my money's worth in playing online against other players, so I feel no bitterness in that regard. The game is eminently playable by those who want to spend the time to do it. By using AnyDesk (which is free) and sending files by email, it works.....and its a ...

Re: House Rules you arrogantly assume everyone should use..

2) Russo-Japanese Pact border garrisons = 1939 (7 to 1) 1940 (6 to 1). 1941 (5 to 1) etc etc. Since I don't like WIF to be decided in 1940 Manchuria, this is required. This includes a mandatory 5 land units (Corp/Army equivalent) that must stay in Manchuria....its miserable enough for China ...

Re: Khaki in Flames and Shellshock land.bmp

Unfortunately if you look at the Khaki in flames zip file, it does not include the land units.

Shellshocks link no longer works.

Hopefully somebody has downloaded these and can email them to me. Thanks.

Khaki in Flames and Shellshock land.bmp

Greetings all,

I have utilized Khaki in flames for everything except Commonwealth land units. Can someone email me the bmp's to replace these too?

I also would like to utilize Shellshocks old land bmp's that were really good. Particularly for Mountains, Desert, Swamp and Plains. If anyone has them ...

These are very impressive report rkr. Talk about detail!

I notice you have Khaki in flames. Although I have utilized this as well, the files associated that I have do not include Commonwealth land units. Do you happen to have that available to send me? Or the link? Thanks! :D

Axis 1944 and 1945.....be gentle....

Ok guys. I have never had the pleasure (displeasure?) of playing beyond mid-43. In mid-43 there are signs of the turn, but the Axis are still bloody damn tough and insolent to boot. High quality Panzers and Luftwaffe everywhere, Japanese Naval Air on innumerable islands. China still in tough ...

House Rules you arrogantly assume everyone should use..

Alright all. I have two

1) Victory. Objective cities = 15. Game ends Sept/Oct 45. Axis have more than 15 cities, they win. Less, they lose. 15 its a glorious tie. I plagiarized this from some distant post ages ago. Thank you whoever you are.

2) Russo-Japanese Pact border garrisons = 1939 (7 to 1 ...
