RE: shore bombardment

<t> This might be a bit OT because it's not about bombardment. But early I see John B. had units prepping for Chittagong while they were already there. My question is does it help, hurt, or make no difference to have units prep for a place they're already at and have no forseeable intention of ...

RE: Naval fire control systems of WWII

I think that I read somewhere that most Allied commanders didn't trust radar anyway. It was to new and if they couldn't see the target, the target didn't exist.

RE: Is that gamey?

<t> I'm still setting up my 1st turn (Dec. 8, DBB-B Scen #028, AI is Japan). I want to trade to CO's but Tracker says no saved turn. My question is, if I run a turn, save the 9th. Run Tracker and export the leaders. This is the gamey question, I now have a list of leaders as of the 9th so I can make ...

RE: Soviets

Good enough. I usually set them all to expand and then forget about them anyway. I think I was just looking for justification (excuses) to not cycle through all the bases and change them. Thanks.

Those craters are intended to be there. They keep the needle from slipping and impaling your palm as you push it through the canvas. I still splice line for my friends..

Soviets

<t> I'm setting up my 1st turn in a GC against Jap AI. I'm using Kull's spreadsheet as a good starting point (with my own changes). I'm curious though if setting the Soviets to expand Port, AF, or Forts make any difference. For instance, does it use up allied supplies faster than if they didn't ...

That brings back some memories, it's just like my first ship. I spent 4 years on DD-883.

RE: Creating a Mod Folder for AE

Good stuff. I think I'll have to reinstall now though. I had DBB and extended map installed before the Betas so I think I'll do it the right way. I was just starting a new GC against the AI anyway and haven't even taken a turn yet so no big loss.

RE: Pilot Training (Again)

I think that was pretty much what I was looking for. An extra month of training before they withdraw isn't going to help. I'm better off filling training squadrons that are going to stick around awhile.

Pilot Training (Again)

<t> Perhaps I didn't search right, but does it do any good to load up squadrons with pilots for training if they are scheduled to be withdrawn? For example, the B-17's in EC that are scheduled for withdraw in Jan. 42. Should I throw extra pilots in there and assign the squadrons to training until ...

RE: New Player: Worry about Dababes?

Has anyone ever mastered this? I just started a new game with the beta patch (finally) and KB went and attacked Johnston Is. after PH. That was a new one on me and now I've lost track of them. I would learn with DBB and the patch.

That cage was called a Bosun's chair. And you could lower someone enough so that the spray between the ships would soak them. But if it hit the water chances are it would be ripped away.

Kamikaze

I just seen some pretty good footage of a kamikaze attack on the USS Laffery. My first GQ station was in a 5"/38 as hot caseman and later as trainer. I can't post links but if anyone wants it just PM me.
