RE: WitW: The Big Differences from WitE - Part 7 - Amphibious Ops
It’s obvious this game is not for you
Did you notice that I began by saying that playing against AI was fantastic?
Or do you actually mean that anything other than rabid enthusiasm is unwelcome in the forums?

RE: What else do you want to know more about?

<t> I apologise for the question appearing overly loaded, let me re-phrase...<br/>
<br/>
My experience of person vs person WiTE was that victory seemed more determined by the min-maxing of complex mechanisms of dubious historicity, like the aerial resupply of panzers with fuel. Although I could ...

RE: WitW: The Big Differences from WitE - Part 7 - Amphibious Ops

<t> When I first played WiTE against the AI, I thought it was fantastic.<br/>
I could focus on core combat and movement, refighting historical events on a massive scale.<br/>
<br/>
But when I started playing human opponents, victory seemed less determined by combat and movement, and instead ...

RE: What else do you want to know more about?

To what extent does the game reward tedious micromanagement, as WiTE did with things like assigning support units, HQ build-ups, magic fuel drops etc?

RE: WitW: The Big Differences from WitE - Part 7 - Amphibious Ops

<r> I am disappointed.<br/>
<br/>
While the scale is smaller than WiTE, WiTW looks more complicated with new turn phases and mechanisms.<br/>
No doubt some of the mechanisms will be broken just as they were dor WiTE.<br/>

I've read far worse.

Hardly a compliment.
The WITE manual is almost unusable for a new player.

Noob Question 9 - PBEM vs Server

<t> I have had a server game which seems to have 'broken'.<br/>
(Its my turn, but I can't load the turn, it returns some error message.)<br/>
I notice from the AARs that people talk about 'sending' turns, suggesting many people are using PBEM.<br/>
Are the server games systematically problematic ...

Using them well is essential unless your opponent is also clueless.

That's horrible, if its true.
Who wants to play a wargame where pouring over the opaque minutae of support unit assignment is 'essesntial'?

RE: Support Unit Headaches!

Just display the support unit and it will show the construction value.

But can't you only do that after its been assigned?
At which point... its too late to make a decision about which SU would have been better to assign.

Which SUs help more in fort building, sappers/engineers or construction?

And if the answer is sappers, what's the point of construction SUs.

<QUOTE><s>
</s> I struggled with this for a while and it helps to keep an eye on the detailed battle reports. Sappers are clearly good, they help you dig in, they reduce fort levels when you attack and sometimes you gain a huge boost to the combat value from them.<e>
</e></QUOTE ...

RE: Soviet Airborne Operations; HELP!!!!

Do you find the use of air-transported units effective though?

I find that most often the planes are more useful being themselves, and the units have already been thrown in front of a tank.
Maybe in the longer campaigns it becomes more useful? I don't know yet.
