Re: Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War Summer Tournament

Yes, both I and my opponent are playing and having fun (nice scenario for both parts, BTW).

I guess that the best thing to do is to check the MP status every day after you enlist so you can be sure that you start when the game is ready. No sweat.

Re: Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War Summer Tournament

I enlisted in the tournament, and I got an email telling me that the challenge vs. my first opponent was ready. However, when I loaded the games, I noticed that they were already ready to play three days before.

I don't know if you should only start when you get the "READY? GO!" email or if there ...

Re: CRAZY idea

true that... but sometimes you just want to play on the train to work... and I was also thinking if we had two AIs play and recorded/confirmed bugs that might push things along... and let's say the AI could access the source code and suggest possible solutions??? now wouldn't that be cool!

Re: Easy WWII Game Recommendation

IMHO, one of the best wargames you can buy is John Tiller's Campaign Series. It offers all the theaters of the war, with a platoon/250 meters scale, and turns of six minutes.

The bang for the buck is astounding, as you can easily find ...

Re: A constructive discussion about stability, patches and bug fixes

"Stop adding new features completely, only bug fixes, perhaps some tweak."

This is a very unreasonable request, in my opinion. Complex software is never perfect. Waiting until ALL bugs are fixed will bring ALL development to a halt.

Fixing bugs is part of the development, so, no, fixing bugs ...

My pick would be Flashpoint Campaigns: Cold War. Lots of solo scenarios and campaigns, plus a cool PBEM mode. It is currently one of my favorite games.

Re: MACOS compatibility

OK, I have launched the game on a Win11 partition on my MacBook Pro using Parallels. Surprisingly, it runs. You have to tone down the graphics quality, of course, and be warned that my Mac is a beast (my wife uses it for CAD).

Re: MACOS compatibility

I have a Win11 install on my MacBook Pro using Parallels. Most games work; some don't. Sea Power, which is graphic-heavy, somehow works; Armored Brigade 2 doesn't. I know that DX12 is not supported, but, re: the rest, it is a toss of the dice.

When the game is released, I'll test it on this config ...

Re: Modern Naval Warfare is launching in Early Access

The depth and realism described for Modern Naval Warfare already make it stand out compared to many strategy sims releasing lately. I actually like the decision to go with Early Access if it helps polish the sonar systems, UI flow, and campaign balance with real player feedback instead of rushing ...

I do use Chrome but I never uninstalled Edge - for the very reasons you just mentioned. Sadly, OSes like Win11 are showing signs of "desperation": "Please, oh, please, use our tools or... or else." And II won't elaborate on the AI mania and how even my loo is about to "use AI." (*)

You may solve it in the link below.

That fixed it! Thanks!

I don't know why or when my PC lost the .webp support. One of the endless Win11 updates, I guess...

[RESOLVED] Problem installing image packages in 1.09.1825.15

I just reinstalled the game on Steam after a few months to check the new Tides of War DLC. As usual, I downloaded the added images and descriptions from WarfareSims website. However, if I add the new image packs for DB3000 and CWDB the game crashes before entering a scenario (if I add only the ...

Re: What games are you playing?

Cyberpunk 2077 plus the Phantom Liberty expansion. IMHO, it is a game greater of the sum of its parts. The combat system is interesting, the vehicle system is meh, you can have unbelievable tech but not a flashlight, and there are a lot of overlapping systems (like if different parts of the game ...

Re: [MERRY CHRISTMAS!] New Scenario: "Operation Christiane"

From things I have read previously, Soviet artillery fires where it wants to go. I seldom play that side, but that's what I do when I play Red. There's not a whole lot a scenario designer can do to ensure that happens after the first round.

I'm using as reference the book I mentioned in the ...

Re: [MERRY CHRISTMAS!] New Scenario: "Operation Christiane"

First of all, thank you for your suggestions! I'm revising the scenario, so they are very helpful.

Is this the dreaded Soviet attack from the barracks? That would explain the relative "paucity" of Soviet artillery. And I had forgot that the West Germans didn't put much into corps artillery the ...

Re: Influence the future of Flashpoint Campaigns by taking this 5 mins survey!

I keep repeating how one of my favorite games when I was a teen, Hearts of Iron 3, and my disappointment with the dumbing-down of the long awaited 4th title took me into this path of discovery of wargames (although I keep playing other genres too).

Very true. HoI3 started with a lot of problems ...
