Re: How old are the average Wargamers here?

Mid 50s (just look at my nickname :D ).

My first argame was AH "Midway". I watched the 1970s movie with my mother, and the scenes when the Admirals moved symbols on a map while planning really grabbed me. Then, shortly thereafter, my family made a trip to Milan. We visited the "Rinascente ...

Re: What Book Are You Reading at the moment?

"Soldiers of Destruction", by Charles W. Sydnor Jr.

This is the story of the 3rd SS Division 'Totenkopf', although the author is clearly fascinated by its founder, Theodor Eicke. The division was made up of concentration camp guards, and the first part of the book is about how they were created and ...

Don't forget The Hollow Legions: Mussolini's Blunder in Greece, 1940–1941 by Mario Cervi. It's one of the best history books I've ever read, regardless of the topic.

NEW SCENARIO: 41 Pabrig Hasty Defense - 4 Divisie Area

This is my first scenario, based on the (fictional) actions of the NL 41 Pabrig in July, 1985. My main reference was this wonderful site: www.orbat85.nl. For the strategic situation I was also helped by WDS' "Danube Front '85", especially the "Bolt Out of the Blue 10.0" scenario (even if WDS' game ...

Re: 2023 WIF AI Progress Report

I disagree with the emphasis on working on the game as is. Improving convoys will not get us sales, and sales are the only way we keep our game.

Sales of a game full of problems?

Also, we don't want "improved convoys". We want for convoys to work as intended.

To get recruits we need AI ...

Re: All things Football (soccer) related

Everyone around me is surprised by how bad Italy was. I'am not. Italy did play in this tournament for about 20 minutes, when we scored twice against Albania. Then we stopped playing. Literally stopped playing.

I can't remember a single moment when Italy did... dunno... something . Against Spain we ...

Re: All things Football (soccer) related

Spain looked good and dominated for most of the game but had only an Italian own goal to show for it.

Spain looked unimaginative, boring, and where lucky to win. A 0-0 draw might have been the fair result based on what I saw of the match. Although, I might be wrong as the game was so boring ...

Re: What program/film/documentary are you watching now?

I watched Season 4 of True Detective. A waste of time and talent.

Jodie Foster is as great as always. Same for the young actor who plays her deputy. The rest of the cast... I don't know. ALL the characters are super-angry towards the World because "reasons". Of course ALL the male characters are 1 ...

Activision Blizzard Inc., Epic Games Inc., Roblox Corp. and around a dozen other video game developers were hit with a wide-ranging lawsuit alleging a 9-year-old became addicted to the companies’ games such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto .

So, not because a 9-year-old boy was ...

Recently something happened in the world of AI and gaming that it is not discussed enough.

Re: What games are you playing?

I agree that Dominions is only improving with time. I got Dominions 6 and it seems to be the best so far. Having said that, I lost my MP group so I can't "stress test" it like I did with Dom3 back in the day. My honest impression is that if you want to try one, then go for Dom6.
