So do I. Look how many older games are still popular.

RE: Windows 11 is Coming

<t> I meant for the general community of Matrix Games gamers.<br/>
In my opinion, it would be customer-friendly for Matrix Games to reach out to Microsoft to anticipate and correct possible glitches caused by the new version of Windows. We all know that in a few years Microsoft will stop supporting ...

RE: Windows 11 is Coming

<t> This is serious stuff, especially for the older but very popular games such as Gary Grisby's BTR, WITP-AE and TOAW IV.<br/>
Is Matrix Games doing anything pro-active to head off the inevitable anguish of blameless gamers? Such as talking to Microsoft to make sure the new Windows's software is ...

RE: Patch 07 - Unofficial Public Beta - 1126b updated 17 Sept 2016

<t> The ongoing public beta updates are excellent. Many thanks.<br/>
Just a small reminder (there are threads on this here and there) that if you're running on Windows 10, like most of us now, some fine tuning is needed in the target window under properties (right click on the BETA game icon).<br ...

RE: Soviet counter battery ineffective?

<t> Funny, because in my games Soviet CB has always been deadly. I usually play the NATO side and if I don't shoot and scoot ALWAYS I'll get hammered after a couple of turns. Other than scooting, the only antidote is to wipe out as many rear area Soviet HQs you can detect. This will disrupt their ...

RE: DVD Boxed edition

<t> I had the same experience. The package arrived earlier than I hoped (living in Oman that's pretty good), the discs and manual were intact but their plastic box was scrunched up. I really wonder what the hell they do with those mail bags. Never mind. The game is great, the manual is excellent. I ...

RE: Community Scenario Pack (Official)

<t> I tried for hours without success to install these new scenarios. How is it done? You download and get a zipped file. Then what. I tried unzipping with 7-zip in the scenario folder, after creating an ad hoc community scenarios folder, but it won't extract, even with administrator privileges. <br ...

[Q] What happens to CMANO?

<t> I know it's written somewhere in the Matrix Games site, but I can't find it anymore. Question, once you've downloaded and installed CMO, together with all the CMANO add-ons such as Chains of War and Silent Service, can CMANO be uninstalled without affecting CMO, or must it remain there ...

RE: Is anyone interested in an update for AE?

<t> Absolutely. Not in dribs and drabs, though. Gather together all the update work that is ready but hasn't been issued yet and put it into one package. Especially important, indispensable actually, is to make the download and installation USER-FRIENDLY. None of that "create a file here, unzip this ...

RE: Armored Brigade Nation Pack: Italy - Yugoslavia is out!

Loved it especially since the map covers the very same area I served in during my 13 month draft period in the mid- 70s (5th Field Arty Reg., Mantova Mech Div).
I am a bit disappointed, though, that the DLC came with only one scenario. Any more in the offing?

RE: Some Reactions Which Might Provoke Some Edifying Discussions

<t> I played the Pied Piper scenario by having the German brigade dig in on the edge of Hammeln. The Soviets came at them and drove into a brick wall. When you are dug in closed terrain all the enemy's more advanced weapons are virtually useless. Anyway the bridge was defended successfully and the ...

RE: Some Reactions Which Might Provoke Some Edifying Discussions

<t> Good points. The Soviets are much more numerous and have excellent equipment, especially the T-80 which can shoot a 5 km-range AT missile from its gun barrel. In general NATO should avoid big sweeping movements a la Rommel and instead dig in and conceal themselves in urban areas and woods and ...

RE: New Swedish report on Russian A2/AD capability

<t> I think I played your scenario a while ago as Sweden. Fun. I remember flying a pair of Gripens a ways offshore Kaliningrad at high altitude to bait the Russians. Finally they fell for it and launched a couple of these new SAMs everyone is talking about (S-400 I believe). I also had a Swedish ...

Thank God for VPN. But more to the point, what does China care about the Baltic, unless of course they have the same or similar equipment as the Russians?

RE: Air Battle Over Kashmir

<t> Granted, the Indian Mig-21s are equipment-wise much evolved and improved versions of those the USAF and USN tussled with over North Vietnam 50 years ago. Even so, if they are comparable to early block F-16s, let's not forget that early block Falcons are now well on the north side of 25. Also, I ...
