RE: CMO RUNNING POLL - Gameplay feature requests

Request: Hourly permanent autosaves.

The current rotating autosaves are very useful for bug reports, but only go back a short way. Having an hourly one (or configurable) would help make up for any absent-mindedness in making regular saves.

<t> FWIW, here's an example spreadsheet (.xlsm) for calculating timings for 3 missions based on a ToT, including weapons.<br/>

It only calculates times from distances & airspeed, i.e. nothing fancy like fuel calculations. On the up-side it should work in any modern spreadsheet as there are ...

RE: reset game to scenerio begining

The autosaves are a nice convenience, but only go back a short way. As we aren't always as disciplined as we'd like to be, there might be mileage in generating a permanent autosave every hour, say. Or configurable.

RE: Database Boundaries - A Modest Proposal

I'm a little curious as to why there are even two different databases, as distinct from a single one with a flag to distinguish different eras if needed. Maybe a performance issue?

RE: Altering an AI-generated Flight Path

<t> I regularly alter generated missions as I find they work well as long as I don't exceed the mission radius. It's easy enough to measure legs using the distance tool, and keeping the same path for the return keeps it simple. Sometimes I want several missions sharing a ToT or sequenced waves, so I ...

Partial refuelling

<t> Is there a way to partially refuel an aircraft?<br/>
<br/>
Here's the issue: A flight of 2 aircraft are almost empty, and they're at a (boom) tanker which only has enough to half-fill each one. That's enough to get them home. However if I instruct them to refuel, they take it in turns so the ...

<t> The main thing I've noticed is the lack of convergence zones (they're now rarer), so I've not been using my subs for longer-range detection/tracking nearly as much as before. And it may be my imagination, but it seems sonobuoys aren't as effective as they used to be. The two may be related ...

RE: Best Scenarios Since Release of CMO

One I keep going back to is Operation Brass Drum, there since the early days of CMANO. It's got a bit of everything (AAW, strike, refuelling, subs, SEAD, etc.) so it's a good scenario for trying things out after updates to the game, or if I need a refresher after a break.

RE: Chain of War 4. Salvo Satellite speed

<t> Theoretically you don't need to be faster than your target, you just need to be at the same place and time. For satellites, interception should be possible by slower munitions as long as the trajectory and timing is accurate. Velocity matching is only necessary for docking, not destruction.<br ...

Transponders don't inherently identify the aircraft...
Good point - it's a cooperative system no more indicative than IFF, so NCTR/profiling would still be needed for hostiles.

RE: Flat Face Radars cannot detect Front or Side A-6E or B-52

Yep, I see that.

I tried changing the side's EMCON to active in case there was some inheritance issue there, but no difference.

If you switch to Blue, turn on the BUFF's radar and switch back, they still can't see it!

RE: Fighters do not indetify contacts

<t> Another thing is that IRL larger civilian aircraft carry transponders so they should be easily identifiable at a distance. The ones that don't are usually the smaller props who fly at ~200 kts anyway, so their flight profiles should identify them. Though it may be the case that some scenarios ...

If you're in doubt, to post a save:

1) Zip up the savefile with 7-zip or some other archiver.
2) Hit the 'reply' button to a post in this thread.
3) Click the 'Hit here to upload!' link and follow the instructions, browsing to that zipfile.
4) Post it!
