reset game to scenerio begining

Post by tabasco_joe »

I'm developing a somewhat complex scenerio. I went into the editor and made some changes. Accidentally hit the button to advance the time and then saved. Now my scenerio starts well into the game with aircraft already in the air and missiles flying. How do I get this reset so it starts at original begining?

Welcome to the club. You can't rewind a scenario once you hit start. Best you can do is check your autosaves, maybe there's one from before you hit start. In the future I'd recommend making backup copies of the scenario file at regular intervals.

I have made the same mistake many many times. I do just what Kushan says. I create a master copy periodically. It takes some discipline, but saves time in the long run.

The autosaves are a nice convenience, but only go back a short way. As we aren't always as disciplined as we'd like to be, there might be mileage in generating a permanent autosave every hour, say. Or configurable.

Have done this too many times to remember - save early, save often with different file names. Autosave might help if you're lucky

Same. Keep a backup of most scenario files elsewhere knowing full well I'll do it again.

Same here. Made the mistake many times. It requires an iron discipline with the back-ups ...

Ditto's welcome to the club. When working on a scene I'll often end up with 30 versions... then eventually just the master, and a separate on-going play-test version of that master.

As for trying to roll back time, well roll back the time, script the units back to their starting points or bases, adjust all fuel levels back to what they should be at start, go adjust all mags if some weapons were loaded on things in the timefime, etc..etc. It's hell, which is why as everyone says...keep various named saves as you go so you don't have to do it. ;)

Er, is the official response to this issue really 'deal with it?'

I paid good money for this game, and I expect reasonable service to come along with the 90USD price tag

Can you please add this as an issue to your backlog, at least
