RE: Operation Cartwheel 1943-1945

The map is pretty good, but the order of battle and TOEs aren't very realistic.

RE: Korean War Tutorial - Chinese conveyor belt

This was exactly the problem the UN forces historically faced... Once China intervened in the war, a stalemate was the only possible outcome.

RE: Beta - Arawe 1943

<t> Thanks for trying the scenario, and I'm sorry it didn't work properly.<br/>
<br/>
This bug is odd. After I expanded the map and added some Japanese air units the scenario crashed on loading for me. Ever since I've removed both (I think it was the air units, for some reason) it's worked fine ...

RE: How Accessible is This for Someone with No TOAW Experience?

<t> The interface is pretty much the same as TOAW3, though with some improvements.<br/>
<br/>
I find TOAW much easier to get into than most wargames of this genre, and its ability to cover something like 150 years of warfare in a sensible and accurate way is a real bonus - it leads to lots of ...

Utility to overlay hexes on a map

<t> When I was last into making TOAW maps and scenarios I had a useful program which added hexes at a set scale over jpeg maps (allowing them to then be translated into TOAW, albeit manually). ...however, I can't remember where I found it and Googling isn't turning up any obvious alternatives. Can ...

Guam 1941

Following some tweaks from the beta version, here's the final version of my Guam 1941 scenario. It's a simple scenario involving a small number of units and a short time period. The scenario is playable by either side.

Beta - Guam 1941

<t> As part of re-teaching myself how to create TOAW scenarios, I've developed a very simple and small scale scenario depicting the Japanese invasion of Guam in December 1941. <br/>

Maps of Guam, Singapore and Saipan-Tinian

<t> Hello everyone. I developed several scenarios and maps for TOAW as Nick Dowling, which I'm pleased to see have also been included with TOAW 4. In response to a request I've received by email, here are some maps I created many years ago for unfinished scenarios. They cover Guam in 1944, Saipan ...

I worked on this one (and probably many others did), but I decided to scrap this scenario, because I don't consider hunting two frigates and few patrol boats with full US CVBG very interesting.<br/>

RE: Trends in Air-to-Air Combat: Implications for Future Air Superiority

This certainly matches up with the way modern/future air combat works in CMANO, where sensors, jammers and payloads are the key elements. It's very rare for a fight to close to dog fighting range, and if it does so it generally means you've done something wrong.

RE: Fueling at base - 2 hours?

The simple answer is that the game doesn't model aircraft as landing only to refuel (as this is rare in practice). Once a plane touches down it goes through the procedures needed to re-launch a mission of whatever type its loadout involves.

RE: Working on new scenarios for a 1996 war...how plausible is this?

The Russian military was in a pretty bad state in 1996, so this could be a bit one-sided
