Map editor, hills

Hello,
I’ve used other map editors from games (sort of) similar to DCAO. Advanced Tactics Gold and The Operational Art of War, for example. So I’m a bit familiar with how they work. From what I’ve been able to find, creating roads and rivers looks to be similar but I’m just wondering about hills ...

Thanks for the help! Got a bit sidetracked with reality.

And hey! What other goodies are hiding out there like that TOAW Reference Card?? That thing is awesome!

Bocage vs Cropland and Cropland vs Open terrain (at 10 mi/hex scale)?

<t> Hello all,<br/>
<br/>
(Note: Even though I'm asking this for map-making purposes, I didn't want to put it in the Mods section because this question pertains to actual game play as well.) <br/>
<br/>
I suppose my real question is: what are croplands supposed to represent in TOAW? I'm creating ...

Urban & dense urban in same hex?

<t> Hello!<br/>
<br/>
In the editor I noticed you can place *both* urban and dense urban terrain in the same hex. It doesn’t show a change to the characteristics of the hex (dense urban = 30% entrenchment regardless of whether regular “urban” is in the hex or not). I’m wondering if having both ...

Max dimensions in hexes for saving map as image file?

<t> Hello All!<br/>
<br/>
I'm creating a map that's currently 400 x 400 in hexes. I tried saving it as an image but a sassy little box comes up saying the image is too large. Does anyone know what the max size the game will allow you to do this? I know maybe it's my system memory but my pc has a ...

Well, I feel a tad less guilt for whining about the rivers anyway. [:)]

Thanks for taking the time to respond! You all convinced me to upgrade to IV. Maybe Matrix can give you a % of the sale!

RE: TOAW or Decisive Campaigns series

<t> Yes, TOAW is *amazingly* well supported by the community. What I'm not clear on is what about the gameplay itself made it do so well vs other games out there. I actually liked the Decisive Campaign games (even though I never was very good at it). I guess the reason I stuck with it more is those ...

TOAW or Decisive Campaigns series

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
Both TOAW and the DC series are both great games but I see TOAW seems far more popular (at least as far as forum activity). I'm wondering why that is as I'm considering "upgrading" to TOAW IV. I suppose - given the forum support for TOAW - it'd be an easy decision BUT *my ...

Image of map (for planning etc)?

Hi all,

As the title says, it'd be very helpful to have an image to help formulate my plans for world domination.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and earn you a place as one of my minions. Thx!

Editor ease of use?

<t> Hello,<br/>
<br/>
I'm not familiar with the SC series and I greatly enjoy modding, especially maps. The game The Operational Art of War (TOAW) has a very easy to use map editor (but I can't get past that rivers go thru hexes rather than along the hex edges in that game) and am thinking to ...

Has everyone moved on to a different game that scratches the DCCB itch?

<t> Forum seems pretty dead so I was wondering if there's a game out there that everyone's migrated to that captures a similar complexity level to DCCB. For me, Advanced Tactics is great but it's also aimed a lot more at dealing with logistics. Sometimes I want to just fight it out. TOAW - ugh, I ...

A completely blank map?

<t> Just wondering if there exists a completely blank map that either someone has created or if there's a way to create one in the editor. As far as I can tell, the editor only allows you to edit already existing scenarios and that takes a lot of work undoing all the roads, rivers etc. I'm trying to ...

<t> OH I'm just going BATS!!! I found it. I have no idea why I didn't see it but I decided to load my Case Blue game to see if I found it there. And the first thing I see when I load the game is the editor button! So I think, "can't be...". So I re-open DCWP and...there it is in the exact same place ...

Thx for the replies! At least I'm not alone. I thought maybe there was some obvious reason I couldn't grasp.
