RE: New Scenario for testing - Reserves to the Rescue

The Valiant's were well gone by 1981, I think there were a couple of definitely non-flying gate guards around then.

RE: Russian Civil War; May, 2004

<t> I played through Phase 1 with no real issues. I would suggest that the number of double digit SAMS were increased - a few SA11 in place of some of the SAM 2 & 3 would make things a bit livelier. I went through RED FORCES fighters like a dose of salts and had them all killed after about 16 hours ...

<t> If this had been introduced, they would have been able to carry any of the Mk80 bombs, Maverick and various rocket pods plus AIM9, 7 and 120 (eventually), its likely that various other AAM's would have been added eg Python, Darter etc for the export market. It's likely that if it had been ...

RE: An Unlikely Ally 2015 New Beta For Testing

Your thinking about the Israeli pre-emptive strike from 1967.

They timed it to hit when the senior Egyptian cvommanders were en-route to their HQ and stuck in the Cairo morning traffic. In the 60's a Blackberry was just a fruit.

RE: Rule Britannia!

They are looking at using a rolling landing for a lot of landings as bring back weights are limited, meaning they would need to dump expensive ordnance otherwise.

RE: Late 80's Soviet Union SAG composition

<t> I seem to remember a Soviet rapid deployment exercise in the mid-late 80's that had War Pac ships pouring into the North Atlantic, Baltic and North Sea. Removing missions from mission planner when complete

<t> When I set up a strike mission it will remain in the mission editor even after the target has been destroyed. This makes it confusing, when I have set up strikes on 15 HAS for example it is hard to work out which ones have been killed.<br/>

RE: U.S. Defense Secretary: Future US Navy Small Surface Combatant SSC to be based on LCS

<t> The OHP class were originally deployed with Standard SM1 which in the 70's was a reasonably effective weapon. They were largely intended to provide ASW screen or convoy escorts in the North Atlantic in a war. Either way they would have been working with dedicated AAW ships or carriers. <br ...

It is an excellent novel and according to one Amazon review the combat systems and techniques are very realistic. I have read this a few times over the years and have to say it is an excellent novel and a real page turner.

The RN used a laser dazzling system in the Gulf during the late 80's and early 90's intended for use against low flying fighters pilots.

RE: When did the US Navy transition from the white/grey paint scheme ?

I remember that the paint they used was a special anti IR paint, I do know it looked a bit patchy when you saw it up close.

I read somewhere that it always felt "tacky" to the touch but not actually wet.

RE: Goodnight Irene (2016) v1.9 -- testing now!

<t> Just starting my third attempt with this. I too keep getting swarmed right at the start and lose a silly number of US ships, including a DDG (IMHO LCS shouldn't be allowed anywhere near armed hostiles, all they seem to do is soak up gunfire and missiles like a sponge!).<br/>
