Music choices while playing Command

Post by jmarso »

Being a windows based game, you can totally run Media Player in the background while you play. Personally, I like to play John Scott's excellent soundtrack to the Final Countdown while playing Command.

The soundtrack to Victory at Sea would seem like another good choice.

Any other recommendations?

I prefer the World in Conflict soundtrack, specifically "Classroom Prep" and the main menu theme.

Additionally, the menu theme from Jane's F/A-18 from back in the day is pretty good background music.

So this is one interesting thread! [:)]

Generally, I've always got something playing in the background when doing some action or working in the editor. I love listening to soundtracks of movies and games I loved back in the days and still do so today. Kind of depends in which year and part of the world the scenario is set. Maybe some of these might be to fast-paced for others but again, depends what is actually happening ingame.

Here are some randomly picked examples. You should also check out the whole soundtrack of every single one of them:

The Hunt for Red October - Red Alert (You should go and listen the whole soundtrack!)

Grand Theft Auto V - Flying Theme (Infinite loop in Red Flag 2017)

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - Main Theme

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqLArgCbh70 (Full spectrum fleet ops!)

Among others I like the soundtracks of ARMA II, ARMA III (seriously awesome!), World In Conflict (mentioned by ThunderCBR), Battlefield 2: Operation Peacekeeper, Battlefield 2: Project Reality, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Rainbow Six Vegas (1), Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, Crimson Tide, Das Boot, Captain Phillips, and many more...

Hope you enjoy them as I do!

I like just playing the soundtracks from the Final Fantasy series. Just let it run for hours with tons of different modern classical orchestrated compositions.

These would be very good.....

The Planets, Op. 32, is a seven-movement orchestral suite by the English composer Gustav Holst, written between 1914 and 1916. Each movement of the suite is named after a planet of the Solar System and its corresponding astrological character as defined by Holst.

Adagio for Strings is a work by Samuel Barber, arguably his best known, arranged for string orchestra from the second movement of his String Quartet, Op. 11. Also in a corral version is very powerful…

Nice suggestion magi, I have Gustav Holst's albums and love playing them on my home sound system.

I also like Hitoshi Sakimoto's compositions here, almost 5 hours of music while playing CMANO: http://youtu.be/Tgd9ajyAiIs

I'll have my regular music choices going, but what I really like to do is throw on some military documentaries on my other screen. I try to find something related to whatever the scenario is about.

I Like to stream KUSC radio great classical all day long and if the times are right and I want something modern I end up with KCRW. Jazz I listen to KKJZ. Unless you live in southern California you need to stream these stations but trust me these are the best public music stations in America.

I don't play much music when I play Command, normally I listen to audiobooks or stream BBC Radio 4 or 4 extra.

There are long periods where you need to wait for something to happen or things are ticking along at a fairly slow pace. Mainly I seem to be listening to a lot of zombie fiction, Military SF - Honorverse, Ark Royal etc, urban fantasy like the Harry Dresden Novels or Monster Hunter International or detective thrillers. Oddly, I can't listen to non-fiction and play Command, but fiction is fine.

My overall preference, because I happen to own the complete collection, is the Victory At Sea soundtracks.

Check out the frozen synapse soundtrack. It's perfect, especially menu music.
