Re: Some questions...

AD hex dimensions (i.e. map scale, if I understand the point correctly).
Unlike my colleague, I do not think that the player could change the hex dimensions.
That would mean a new map at a different scale.

Certainly, a map to scale is needed, but the hex dimensions can be changed in the editor ...

Re: Leaders

Will it be similar to WITP-AE, where you have a limited number of PPs to spend, and replacing leaders costs PPs?

No PPs cost.

Also, curious how factions leaders are handled.....some leaders, particularly on the Republican side, are going to be restricted to one faction...correct? Thinking the ...

Re: Some questions...

On the dissolution of the Army by the Republic in August 1936.........

What if those Army units are right in the middle of something, like combat or blocking a key position? IRL, I don't think they would just disband everyone and go home (or did they?).

Wouldn't want that to be exploited by the ...

Re: Question on Graphics

The graphical improvements are remarkable and solve the problems you mentioned in your post, although there is a clear inspiration from AE in the new engine graphics.
On the other hand, the graphics are work in progress, because the new engine allows constant improvements.

Readings for immersion in the SCW

Here we can post books and other works about the SCW.

For english readers, I recommend the two monumental works on the SCW, which have the same title:

The Spanish Civil War, by Hugh Thomas
The Spanish Civil War, by Stanley G. Payne

Hugh Thomas and Stanley G. Payne are two key historians of the ...

Re: Some questions...

1) Will it be playable against AI or will it be more like witp?
2) How customizable will it be? Because, honestly, Spanish theater has little appeal.
3) How much will it cost?

Finally, a thought after watching the game's presentation video... I find the user interface unintuitive and confusing ...

Re: War in Spain, War at Sea

Ranger Joe has clarified the second point for you, I'll clarify the first one.

Both sides need to organize task forces to obtain supplies in friendly countries. Theoretically, there was a neutral patrol, but we all know it wasn't useful and in this game it's just an informational piece of news.

Of ...

Re: Political Aspects of Civil War: How modeled in game?

To avoid that the effects may be random.

Just an example the May days.

Reduce VPs for the Republican side between 100 and 500.

The fact that it is a wargame does not mean that politics have no consecuences.

Politics has consequences in the game, but the player cannot control it, only manage ...

Re: Political Aspects of Civil War: How modeled in game?

Appreciate the responses, and I also appreciate that really modelling politics is very difficult, and also creates "foresight" for both players that they wouldn't have IRL

Does the game at least model some of the military impacts of politics, for example:

1. Are Basque and Catalan units ...

Re: Political Aspects of Civil War: How modeled in game?

Political events are informative.
Historical events (creation of the People's Army, arrival of the International Brigades, Germans, Italians...) have impact, much impact.

Re: Political Aspects of Civil War: How modeled in game?

Hi, Q-Ball

Is there any modelling of that?
This game is a wargame, so the political aspects are barely outlined. Of course, there are plenty of historical militias, but political events are limited to news at the beginning of certain turns. Example: The fighting between anarchists and communists ...

Re: War in Spain 1936-39 AAR #1: Balearic Islands Republican Spain

As I said, the west coast is mountainous and difficult to cross (there was only one road to Palma from west). Moving inland was very difficult if the road was well defended.

Re: At last!

Thanks, iPlayer63.

The game is already in a state that needs few changes before release. However, there will be necessary updates and likely some addons in the coming months. Everything can be improved and it is constantly evolving in this new engine.

So we have taken note of your offer ;)
