About Music

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

About Music

Post by Haviel71 »

Good morning. I'm playing the game with the music from WitP:AE, renaming the files "Z Old Music," because I love that music and find it less repetitive than the default game music (I'm from Spain and I've listened to it a million times).
I was wondering if I could add more music files, beyond the "Music 1025 to 1033" file range, and if these need to meet any duration requirements besides being WAV files.
Thank you very much

If they are correct format, they can be played. I don't know about adding more music files. So you could play "Tears of a Clown" if you so desired.

Well, I think that would be a good song when the battle results are better for the other side!

Speaking of music... where are the Nationalist songs on the soundtrack? Not even La Marcha Real?

As far as I am aware, they are not subject to law restrictions like songs from the German Third Reich, so it feels kind of weird to have songs and anthems only from the Republican side when playing as the Nationalists. Some or of all of these songs below would be fine :

- Cara al Sol
- Oriamendi
- Cancion del Legionario
- Camisa Azul
- Ya Hemos Pasao
- Falangista Soy
- Cálzame las Alpargatas
- Arriba España

I wanted to add a few nationalist songs, but most of them are copyrighted.
On your list, only *Oriamendi* is an anthem without a copyright holder.

Even La Marcha Real? Isn't it free of copyright, since it is an official national anthem?

Sad, though, I would have loved to get exposed to more songs from the other side.

Of course, La Marcha Real is free. Sorry.
But it has been the anthem of Spain since the 18th century, except during the Republic times. It is not really a nationalist anthem...and the spaniards do not want it to be identified as such.

I think I'll add the Oriamendi. You're right, it should be in the game.

Excellent.

My knowledge of Nationalist songs during the Civil War is pretty limited to the main ones I listed; are there other lesser known songs or hymns free of copyright that could be integrated to the next version? Like pro-Conservative, Alphonsist, or military marches?

Would Falangist songs also be free of copyright, or are they owned legally by the current party Movimiento Falangista de España?
