RE: Intellectus Ex Nihilo (Wal-Mart on Ice)

<t> I'm afraid so, it falls into the fantasy genre.<br/>
<br/>
As for vulgarity or profanity.. I think in the whole book, there's one page with a couple of street kids who use some bad language. Maybe two or three other examples of someone saying something equivalent to 'my god'. Rothfuss isn't a ...

RE: Intellectus Ex Nihilo (Wal-Mart on Ice)

If fiction is okay, I'd have to recommend the two large novels by Patrick Rothfuss. "The Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear."

They're phenomenal.

RE: Did You Know I Used to Drive a Rollercoaster?: Apbarog(A) vs OPilot(J)

<t> Those losses seem like normal retreat losses to me. I don't think shock attacks have any beneficial effects at all to cause losses.. only to increase AV which could force retreats. Retreats cause plenty of losses.<br/>

Anyway, the gutted stack did minimal damage, so there wasn't much to ...

RE: Did You Know I Used to Drive a Rollercoaster?: Apbarog(A) vs OPilot(J)

<t> I wouldn't recommend the shock attack at Chittagong. You don't need the additional AV to force the remaining units to retreat, so all it will accomplish is giving the enemy a free phase to do slightly more damage than you'd otherwise take. Use a shock attack when it's the difference between ...

If it's truly all-hands over Kushiro does that mean there are any momentarily soft targets for strategic bombing? Maybe some aircraft plants or a raid on Tokyo..

<t> I am also a long time Tolkein fan, with very little but praise for his work.<br/>

If you need someone new, however, I strongly recommend the two novels by Patrick Rothfuss; The Name of the Wind, and Wise Man's Fear. I find them to be quite full reads, and the third one of the trilogy ...

4542 sorties flown today, five operational losses.

That just doesn't seem like very many ops losses, not by half. If anything, suppression methods for ops losses may be too strong.

Singers seems likely to live or die primarily on supplies. How much do you have there, and what are your prospects for getting in more? How are the replacements for the reinforcing LCUs in that base?

I suspect Obvert / Historiker was coloured by the loss of half of KB on December 8th.

I don't know that word but I do know that feeling. I ran into a word for the profession of prospective juror in a retirement memoirs of a WWII era constable, and I can't remember it now.

That's not quite the way fire reports work, IIRC. The fire number for an attack is the total amount of fire present, and individual attacks add to it, but don't start from zero.

That's still a lot of fires, but it's not 200k.

If you do do the neti pot thing, make absolutely certain to not use normal water, as several people get killed by infections following their use because of it. Remember that you're essentially pouring water on a part of your brain, and take appropriate precautions against infection.

<t> Still not convinced about the bomb Manila with the KB plan that's popular. The only upside seems to be having the KB in the NEI, which although significant, hasn't seemed to be that big a deal. Sinking some subs scores a few points, but not many, and between air ASW and E-boats, the subs aren't ...

Alternatively, maybe a little lower can allow you to continue to get the dive and give them less time to spot the incoming raid, due to the lower altitude, and get fewer planes on hand for the initial round of combat.
