Idea to Mod: Food Sources

Would it be possible to have food as resources? Like, an entire planet to provide food sources to new colonies or for big cities. Food supply would become a critical trade route issue and blockades could have a deadly effect :D

What about private corporations? Caslon Gas Inc against Hydrogen Corps? Those corporations interacting with the nations by deals, concessions, so on?

Tractor Beams pushing away

I'm trying to mass frigates with tractor beams + torpedos, but even if both tactics for stronger and weaker troops is point blank, my frigates keep pushing larger ships away. This is silly. Is there a way to fix it? Or I'll have to use another design to accomplish it?

I got the alert that my Hakoonish population went crazy killing other races, then I went to my colony and changed the population policy. I think I succeded, but wasn't it meant to not allow changes on population policy during those xenophobic riots?

Tech Spread through trading

Would it be possible to mod it? Instead of being able to trade techs, they could spread through trade routes. Then, using trade agreements/trade sanctions would have even more importance on the game dynamics.

Those diplomacy settings would detail mining and fuels rights also. I like to concede fuels rights to my allies, but I don't like people mining on my territory :)
