Fleet Templates

Post by slaxis »

Is there a MOD to do that? Instead of letting the AI create the fleets, you predefine fleet templates like:

Strike Force Type 1 ( 2 Escorts, 3 Frigates, etc) - 1 By Colony - Stance Defend - Current System.
Big Bad Fleet Type 1 (1 Capital Ship, 5 Destroyers, etc) - 1 - Attack - Everywhere.

or even better, using the specific design if you have multiple designs for a given type.

Its boring to manage by hand the fleets (building the different ships and assign them to the appropriate fleets), and during war, with alot of ships being destroyed, it takes lot of micromanagement to keep the fleets with the desired balance of ships.

Or are there any tips or info on how the AI chooses "ship mix" for fleets?

I don't think there is anything apart from the choices at the bottom of the empire policy screen.

Percentage of ships in fleets.
Typical number of ships in strike fleets, and in "fleets".

If you automate fleet formation the AI should also give them stances (I think), but you may find that annoying.

If you don't like micro management, don't micro manage the fleet contents that much. And if you make your ships more sturdy, they don't get killed as much during war :)
