It's a known bug (Matrix/CodeForce have a log of it). Where the tech tree should implement "you need X or Y" it actually implements "you need X and Y".

It's just not a priority to fix right now, there are more pressing issues to come first. I'm 100% positive it will be resolved with time though.

Can you edit the large freighter design and screen shot that?

I'm grasping at straws, but I've seen the AI design ships that can't be built.

(In my last game I had 2053 Small, 1611 Medium and 920 Large, but I designed all the ships manually.)

My approach is to either make friends early, before the envy can build up, or concede that we'll never be friends.

If I focus on making allies early, I can get over +100 relations with them just from maintaining the different treaties, balancing out almost any level of envy.

I've seen and reported this in previous versions. The only workaround I found was to save and reload the game.
- I don't think it's a priority right now there, there are more pressing bugs to address first

I've not seen that happen; I've repaired planet killers.

I can watch as the hull is repaired first, then the damaged and destroyed components are repaired.

- halve the tech's remaining time to complete
- halve the tech's amount of outstanding research required

I had a similar issue, though it may be different/unrelated.

Several ships had hyperspace speed showing, but were not actually moving (nothing to do with a nebula).

I noticed that my page file had filled up and the windows event view had a Resource Exhaused warning.

I've noticed that when my freighters come under attack, other freighters do not help out.
- 10 freighters near a mine, pirate attacks mine, freighters just watch
- one of the freighters gets attacked, the other freighters just watch

I'd really like to see percentage savings being multiplicative...

Avoiding; 40%+40%+40%=120%

Instead; 0.6 * 0.6 * 0.6 = 0.216 (78.4% reduction)

The game does have to be balanced, as if not, then players will often optimize the fun out of the game. Hence why ship design has to be approached carefully
