If your main interest is playing the Japanese or fighting the Japanese, buy WaW
If you want a game that is more challenging, with more European detail, you should get WiE.
I find WaW easier to win.

Use mobility very selectively. I seldom apply it to more than 20% of my infantry units. Armor and mech get it generally. HQs would be nice but the cost is prohibitive. I think it is best used to penetrate open holes in the enemy line, but what do I know? I am a fellow noobie.

Taking Malta after France is what I usually do. With 6 Med/Tac and a para it generally only takes a turn or two.
Then two HQs work fine.

The Swedes with their light cannon were the only ones to use grapeshot during this period. Everybody else just fired cannon balls. Bowling for men? Hit or miss for sure.
