Re: Current Conflicts
To this I might add a third approach, which is also a "theme." One could design a campaign built around a particular group of ships, aircraft, etc. So, for example, a fictional world war set in 1985, but instead of moving around to various theaters, it would stick with a particular battle...

Re: Is there an underlying issue with the forums?
I was getting time out errors, 404 Not Found errors, etc. the other day too. I figured it was some sort of networking issues or a denial of service attack against some site(s) and Matrix was just a bystander caught up in it. However, going to the main Matrix site, then navigating to the CMO forum th...

Re: Sea Power
I will say this about Sea Power; it's got a fair amount of fodder for possible CMO scenarios. Not saying some of the scenarios in Sea Power aren't already CMO scenarios, but there's some room for creativity on the player's part with them. The game itself, the development, seems to have slowed or sta...

Re: Charlie Deuce Takes the Lead, 1970 - new beta for testing
I finished this one up yesterday. A couple notes: - NATO side needs to be tweaked so when "United States" (player side) is hostile against the Soviets, NATO will be too. As it is, NATO will be happy to hang around and drop sonobuoys but won't attack any detected sub, nor will they attack A...

Re: Sea Power
Who releases a game, even in EA, without the ability to save? I think you can modify the config.ini file in this folder: \Steam\steamapps\common\Sea Power\Sea Power_Data\StreamingAssets\original to enable saves. It's mickey-mouse because the Steam data integrity routine will set it back to the defa...

Re: Show of hands: keep or remove "quick access" doctrine settings on right column?
I hardly ever look at the doctrine "quick access settings", let alone actually use them. We are looking at various options for streamlining the UI (both from a UX and from a technical-complexity viewpoint), and one of the candidates for the chopping block is this quick-access section. The ...

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 3 - Duel near Cape Verde, 1957
I completed a playthrough with V3 yesterday. I noticed that the weapons magazine at Sal Island has a couple of the ZUNI 127mm FFAR loadouts.... however there's a missing weapon to use these if so desired. The "Tiny Tim" 300mm HVAR Rocket is a required weapons loadout for the ZUNI's to be u...

Re: Casamance 1 - Arrival, 1986 -- new beta for testing
There's something weird going on with the C.160F Transall's. One of the aircraft's fuel burn rate is off the hook while the other's seems normal. No idea if this is a bug or what, but one of them will be unable to reach Dakar-Yoff even if it "hop-scotches" through every airbase as the last...

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 2 - Head 'Em off at the Sunda Strait, 1957 -- new beta for testing
I think the only modification I'd do at this point is to move the UK sub a little bit closer to the Sunda Strait. It will take it the majority of game time to just get into a likely intercept position from it's current starting point.

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 2 - Head 'Em off at the Sunda Strait, 1957 -- new beta for testing
Thanks for catching that. It's actually easy to fix...assign the group to a support mission located close the end of the group's pre-set course. All the ships are headed there now, so even if the group leader is taken out, and they interrupt their initial course, the rest should head to the locatio...

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 2 - Head 'Em off at the Sunda Strait, 1957 -- new beta for testing
Hey Mark, I finished ver. 2 a couple days ago. The UK sub's position is suitable for any escaping Soviet ships provided; - The Soviets are still able to navigate - There's time enough to reposition the sub In my playthrough the Soviet's lead ship must have been hit hard enough to cause the entire co...

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 2 - Head 'Em off at the Sunda Strait, 1957 -- new beta for testing
I've tried this a couple times, and this is what I've noticed: First, the issue I just reported here: (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10230&t=407371&p=5200011#p5200011), really hampers the usefulness of HMS Tapir, as the speed of the convoy combined with very limited sur...

Re: Khrushchev's War, Day 4 - Birmingham Goes Hunting, 1957 -- new beta for testing
I played ver. 2 yesterday. Finished as "average." I too lost the Birmingham to torpedoes "out of nowhere." The three Soviet warships were engaged with the surviving British warships from TG-1 and TG-3 and all were sunk. TG-2 skirted to the south of the Soviet main body and went a...

Re: Sea Power
"Not unlike some of the CMO beta updates" That is completely unfair. CMO has been around over 10 years and has continued to add new features and updates without charge. You have every right to not update or use a beta. Sea Power is charging almost $50 for a barely playable game. I'll say ...

Re: Sea Power
I picked up the game yesterday as well. I've seen several, probably all of the Sea Power videos on YouTube. I sort of had an idea what I was getting into. This "early access" version is playable, but a bit buggy. Not unlike some of the CMO beta updates. I noticed that if/when the "fin...

Re: Nikita's War - France Enters the Fray, 1957 -- new beta for testing
I played this scenario yesterday. F4U's! Cool. First mission was to get them to a base with ammo. Second mission was an ASW ring around De Grasse TG. Third mission was to get one of the Neptune's into the air and their powerful radars on so I could see what was around. I quickly located the Soviet's...

Re: Seeking Opinions: Alternative Cold War history
I think there are a number of "generic" units, carriers specifically in the DB3K that you can modify with sensors, weapons, magazines and so on. Then, save the ships to an .inst file for loading later. Sort of an adhoc way to go about creating something that doesn't, or didn't exist. Same ...

Here's a screenshot of my endgame. Once I had control of the Sokolov I assigned it a new homebase (Helsinki) and put the OPV Turva on a course to return to same base.
No other combat... although one of the Super Puma's was shot down.

Re: Do any scenarios written by Mark Gellis need corrections, updates, etc.?
I haven't looked, but if not already done perhaps update to the most current DB? I've updated some of the homebrewed scenarios I've created and I know that sometimes units I've selected in the original are not available in the updated DB. Or there are other incompatibilities that require some modif...
