Re: Training during transport?

Is an air unit placed in "deep freeze" when it is loaded aboard a ship and carried as cargo? Yup.

Does the game remember what the unit was doing when it was loaded aboard ship? Yup.

If the unit was assigned a training mission, does training continue while the air unit is at sea? Yup.

How can we ...

Re: Increasing Carrier complement of aircraft

Okay, I have an issue. It is March 1944 and the Wasp's squadrons have resized to a total complement of 94 a/c (they're actually 2 short at 92) but her stated capacity is 76. How can I reduce their numbers so that she can operate normally?

Assuming the procedure in a DaBabes scenario is the same ...

Re: Reducing planes in squadron

The only a/c you can remove from a squadron are reserve a/c. There's no mechanism for removing other a/c, except in the case of naval squadrons that can be resized, as General Patton has noted above.

There's also the workaround that BBfanboy has described, but that's only available to squadrons ...

Re: Squadron with Escort mission and CAP

So if I understand correctly a unit of 24 fighter with a 50 CAP is divided as
12 on escort and 4+4+4 on CAP. What I do wonder is the range, if I put a 1 on the range because I want the CAP to mainly be above homebase, how far will the escorts fly?

If "Target" is set to "Commander's Discretion ...

Re: shipping capacity

The manual seems to skip over a lot in the description of the Task Force Information Screen. On that screen transport and cargo ships are listed with a 'Capacity' that often comes in the form xxxx/xx. Is the number after the slash the number of aircraft the ship can load?

If I read your post ...

Please see my post above. It outlines my understanding of the way the game is coded, as reflected in the manual. My answers to your questions (in red below) are based on that understanding.

I hope someone will sandbox this some day and post back to the forum. Until I see a Combat Report that shows ...

Re: Help me understand correlation of Escort/CAP missions and range

So if a player wants to set CAP only over the home base yet escort bombers to an enemy target, then I presume that the fighters can have a target set so they will exceed the set range to that target but only for bomber escort. Otherwise with no target set, they will only escort to the limit of ...

Re: CAP not flying

My guess is in this order, leader, range and percentage set to fly. Leader really, really important, range important, percentage small.

Chris21wen, my concern is that a high CAP percentage leads to higher fatigue. That isn't your experience? Or, something you're willing to trade off to have ...

in my game I have Imphal, with a lvl 4 airbase at this point that can support 9 "groups," and Manado, also a lvl 4 airbase, but it can only accept 5 "groups." Imphal has 167 Wing based there, which is subordinate to India Command (via several links), as is Imphal. Manado has 81st RAAF Wing based ...

The primary benefit that an air HQ bestows is that it allows you to keep more air units at a base within its command radius than would otherwise be possible (assuming the AF<9). What is key (as I read section 9.4 of the manual) is that ...
