For example, US strike kills Russian advisers, Russia attacks US DDG. US retaliates with further strikes against Russian troops and installations, etc. etc.

Well we can only hope that Trump won't fire the shot that is heard around the world.

Well, that's kind of a flip statement. Why don't you describe what you mean in detail and outline your actual concerns?

RE: F-8J Crusader and its infrared surveillance camera

<t> When you are running an RF-8 over a target area, hit F2 and check the cloud deck. If he's going in above it he won't see a thing. Recon missions I almost always micromanage, using the F3 button to lay out his course, and then setting altitudes and speeds at each waypoint. If he's going into a ...

<t> Finished it this morning. <br/>
<br/>
GREAT STUFF!<br/>
<br/>
I'd love to see a circa 1986-88 version of this campaign. <br/>
<br/>
I did fairly well in most of the ASW scenarios, being a former P-3 guy. The others ranged from 'not so bad' to 'pulling my hair out and cursing like a sailor ...

When the amphib task force moves inside the 'amphib zone' waypoints, a bunch of land units appeared automatically- I think this was to simulate the Marines hitting the beach. After that I had ...

I never wound up doing anything with the Marines; as soon as enough ships crossed into the fjord my score rolled up to the victory level and the scenario ended.

<t> Making my way through the campaign and currently on the Fox-2 scenario. This stuff is great- feels like a war college kind of deal where you play a scenario, either pass or fail, but either way it gets you thinking about what you could have tweaked or done better- sometimes because you have to ...

RE: Effects of multi-axis attack

<r> The most effective multi-axis attack is one where you can coordinate a TOT (time on target.) Example: SAG shooting missiles from one direction, with MPA shooting from a second, and an air wing strike launching a standoff attack from a third. You time the distances and flight times so that the ...

Request for the future- updated formation editor

<t> One of the frustrating things I'm finding is trying to ungroup and regroup different vessels and place them into a formation. <br/>
<br/>
You can do it with the current editor, but it's very tedious. How about a some selectable formations? You could have a 'battle line' which would be simple ...

RE: Has anyone tried.....

<t> Seems like that can cut both ways. If your sub detects a contact in a convergence zone, then your sub is in the convergence zone for the contact as well, given similar water conditions. Of course, counter-detection also depends a lot on the gear and the sonar figure of merit of the adversary; I ...

RE: Mine Countermeasures

<r> How do you guys set up your MCM aircraft in terms of speed, altitude, and optimum search area?<br/>
<br/>
Also, I use 'creep' for surface units, which usually puts them at about 5 knots. Too fast?<br/>

Also, is there any kind of message log entry or what not when an aircraft detects or ...

Mine Countermeasures

<t> What have you guys found that works best for MCM missions? <br/>
<br/>
In the past, typically in a scenario like Brass Drum when I want to transit the strait, I'll set up a very narrow corridor using locked reference points and send the MCM helos in ahead of the first poor unfortunate of a ...

RE: Tactics - 1973 - no standoff weapons.

<t> Adding to what the previous poster said, do all that with as large a force as you can- try to overwhelm the enemy defenses with numbers so enough leak through to score hits. If you go at it piecemeal you'll get eaten alive- piecemeal. Give 'em the kitchen sink!<br/>

Also, from a broader ...

RE: Aircraft RTB right after taking off the deck

<t> One thing to be careful of on interception missions: the fighters go out full burner and quickly run themselves out of go-juice unless you intercede. If you set long interception ranges, when the flight leaves the deck you'd better manually throttle them back to military power or they won't even ...

RE: A Cold and Lonely Place: question

<t> Gunner, that's definitely a P-3; I'm not sure where it's at though. The ramp in the pic looks like packed snow rather than ice; we'd taxi on iced over ramps and runways in Kef but to takeoff and land the runway itself had to be plowed down to where there was at least a usable breaking action (or ...

I'm not one of the devs, but if my understanding of how the game works is correct I don't think this is possible the way you are thinking. I think (I might be wrong) that you can chain together ...

RE: A Cold and Lonely Place: question

<r> Can't speak to the F-5, but the P-3 could not operate from a gravel strip- the props would suck all kinds of stuff up and damage both prop blades and motors. As for it being totally frozen over, in theory you <I><s></s>might<e></e></I> be able to operate that way but only in uttermost ...

Just make sure you select the side in the editor that you want the base to ...
