Re: What Multiplayer Means for Scenario Design

The vast majority of two-sided scenarios have an easy side and a hard side. While this is an interesting decision for single-player, it makes multiplayer considerably more frustrating. North Pacific Shootout, for example, has a massive range advantage for American air units and the air defenses on ...

Re: What Multiplayer Means for Scenario Design

I think it makes the most sense for some scenarios to be written specifically for Multi-player, and they may actually be easier to create in some respects.

If you have a scenario with only two sides against each other, and other sides involved would just be civilians/biologics, making it MP only ...

Re: [Fixed] B1728.2 Beta: NI #11 Saratoga magazine issue

Oh, great! I really enjoy this scenario but I've had to keep editing the magazine after every beta update

Is this included in the 1900.5 build made available today? or is it coming in a future update to that?

EDIT: Oops, silly me, didn't read your comment closely enough. Thanks for including ...

Re: v1.10 public beta with real-time MP now live!

This is great!

Question:

This build is 1900.5, the last beta was 1892

Is the ONLY difference between the two the addition of the MP modules?

Methods for Early Generation ASW Escorts

This subject came to my mind recently when I was playing the Command: Fail Safe scenario "The Good Shepard".

This scenario features a Convoy Escort mission to complete, and the escorts start off being 'detached' from the Surface Group that actually contains the merchants of the convoy itself ...

[WAD] B1892 North Pacific Shootout missing features

In the latest beta, the official scenario "North Pacific Shootout" appears to have some functionality lost:

1) The special action to attempt SAR is gone, as is the function that allows downed pilots to survive to be picked up at all

2) The special action to request control of the F-15s in the ...

Re: Realistic ASW and Sonobuoy Use?

3) Would it be possible to add a "hold/dispense sonobuoys" doctrine option for aircraft on ASW patrols? That way we could have them in the air but not dropping their buoys until we wanted them.

This has been added as an ASW doctrine setting for the next update.

SWEET! Good to hear!

Re: Does stealth technology work in this game, and one of the questions.

Stealth is effective, but it's hardly a magic solution.

It doesn't make an aircraft completely invisible to radar, it just MASSIVELY reduces the effective detection range (depending on the radar in question). If it can reduce detection to just within (daylight) visual range, than it's effectively ...

Re: Improving Vietnam war era SAM Survivability Against SEAD in CMO

I like this idea quite a bit. It is correct that those earlier generations of SAMs couldn't really target small targets like ARMs (Otherwise the N. Vietnamese would have done exactly that ALL THE TIME).

Aside from default WRA for those earlier SAMs, we could also see some possible improved ways to ...

Re: Trump Class Guided Missile Battleships

Aside from that fact that I hate the concept, I'd be very surprised if this actually gets built:

-The time needed to secure funding, prepare the shipyard and complete the design, means it would likely bleed into the next administration, who will almost certainly cancel this monstrosity.

-Even IF ...

Re: CMO v1.09 Build 1852 (Public Beta)

Great! I'll install when I get home.

One question:

What is the "Junkyarded" section of the notes for the new DB3000?

Junkyard is how we handle units that are "deleted" from the DB or should not exist but cannot be removed due to backwards compatibility reasons when reassignment is not ...

Re: Northern Fury - Check out the book based on CMANO scenarios

FYI to everyone who may have missed it, the Paperback version is avaliable.

I ordered mine yesterday. I also got the E-Book, but that's more of a backup & appreciation purchase, as I'm going to actually read it with the physical copy.

It should arrive tomorrow, and I might suspend my progress in ...

Re: Tide of War - 1. ASEX-25 (Unofficial) Update

I've played this revised scenario, and it works MUCH better now.

The only note I would give is that the player should receive some points for successfully boarding and detaining a PAFMM ship. I understand there not being any score for successfully ramming due to political consequences, as in this ...
