Re: Build 1774: Fire Control Auto Evasion by unaffected units

IIRC, the change was made because there were complaints that only the targeted aircraft was going into evasion. Some players wanted all/other aircraft to all respond defensively. My question is which aircraft should or should not go defensive?

I thought the change was so that the locked on ...

[FIXED] Build 1774: Fire Control Auto Evasion by unaffected units

Having installed the latest Beta Build (1774), I played around with the North Pacific Shootout scenario.

When the Soviet interceptors fired on the P-3 Orion conducting the FONOPS flight, the engaging fighter is marked hostile before firing due to the FC radar lock on (per the tweak added in this ...

Re: Shattered Trident, 1994 - JMSDF scenario vs. DPRK

I suppose you'd definitely want the organics (whales, fish schools) to have a course and move. What other tricks can you do as a scenario designer to make the detection / differentation with submarines less obvious?

I suppose it's great if that suspense is kept alive as long as possible. I ...

Re: Should biologics/false contacts always be added in scenarios that have submarines?

I think historical events in the Falklands show biological and false contacts as valid scenario elements, especially for scenarios set in past decades. The RN expended prodigious amounts of ASW ordnance on not-actual-submarines.

That's an excellent point that I'd forgotten about when typing the ...

Should biologics/false contacts always be added in scenarios that have submarines?

I've been inspired to make this thread based on a reply comment left by Kushan in a user scenario thread, and since I'd rather not fill up that thread with a side-debate, I thought I would start a discussion here for everyone else to give input:

In that thread, I said:
I firmly believe that any ...

Re: Shattered Trident, 1994 - JMSDF scenario vs. DPRK

I guess that makes sense. Only 4x Harpoons made me feel that each one had to count against the missile boats, especially since the helicopters don't have any anti-surface loadouts.

I firmly believe that any submarines in a scenario should mean including at least a few biologics.

I disagree ...

Ah, this scenario looks interesting. I'll definitely try it out!

Also note, you can share scenario files on here directly. Simply put the .scen file (and .ini file if appicable) into a compressed (zipped) folder, and add it as an attachment to your OP.

UPDATE:

I've played the scenario. I like ...

Re: Questions about Baltic tactics

A few questions that I hope folks can help me with...

I understand that in a World War III situation, the Soviets would want to seize control of the Baltic AND be able to transit to the North Sea. What I'm trying to figure out is how they would go about doing this. I'm trying to visualize how the ...

So, when can we expect formal announcement of the next DLC?

A while ago, as part of the Matrix Games Home of Wargamers event, the next Command DLC was announced, with some basic details given on this new "Tides of War" campaign.

But that was over a month ago, and I'm surprised that we've not yet seen the FORMAL announcement, with a product page ...

This was the trigger for the post; for sure an outlier that happened while playing a game toda. I think it happens mostly with Fox-2 shots whilst Fox-3 tend to be lethal from the first shot ...

Re: Aircraft Damage model: is it too forgiving?

Do some air-to-air missiles have proximity detonators? A near miss from a missile might then cause limited damage rather than destroy the aircraft. Just a quick thought.

I think a majority would have them right? The VT fuse was very much available by the time the first proper AAMs were made ...

Re: Looking back

I must be one of the younger ones among us. I've been part of the Command player base for almost 11 years now, though I never did play Harpoon before that (I'm 32). In terms of officially logged hours, Command is definitely my most played game, with a combined around 4,000 over both versions (CMANO ...

B1728.2 Beta: NI #11 Saratoga magazine issue

I've been running a favorite scenario on the new Beta branch: Northern Inferno #11 Fire and Brimstone.

I've found that onboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga (Carrier Strike Group One), the magazine does not carry the correct variant of the AIM-7 Sparrow for its F-4J Phantoms.

The Phantoms ...

Re: STANAVFORLANT Holds the Line, 1968 -- new beta for testing

Sorry for delay in replying.

I don't think there's alot to actually change, as the main challenges are inherent in the technology of the time, but I do have a couple notes:

1) Maybe reposition the Wasp group somewhat closer to Iceland at the start? The player should still have to move it some ...

Re: STANAVFORLANT Holds the Line, 1968 -- new beta for testing

After some trial and error, I managed to pull off a triumph with a score of 720

One has to be careful to detect the Soviet subs some distance out from the ships, as if they get close enough, you might be screwed. Lost HMS Hampshire to a Badger launched missile, so I felt it imperative to move Wasp ...

Suggestion for ASW Patrol missions

I think it would be a good idea to add certain options to ASW patrol missions, specifically for ASW Aircraft.

I've often had situations where I effectively need to cover a large area with ASW aircraft, but naturally this means alot of Sonobouys end up getting wasted.

While the game does allow up ...
