B1728.2 Beta: NI #11 Saratoga magazine issue

I've been running a favorite scenario on the new Beta branch: Northern Inferno #11 Fire and Brimstone.

I've found that onboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga (Carrier Strike Group One), the magazine does not carry the correct variant of the AIM-7 Sparrow for its F-4J Phantoms.

The Phantoms ...

Re: STANAVFORLANT Holds the Line, 1968 -- new beta for testing

Sorry for delay in replying.

I don't think there's alot to actually change, as the main challenges are inherent in the technology of the time, but I do have a couple notes:

1) Maybe reposition the Wasp group somewhat closer to Iceland at the start? The player should still have to move it some ...

Re: STANAVFORLANT Holds the Line, 1968 -- new beta for testing

After some trial and error, I managed to pull off a triumph with a score of 720

One has to be careful to detect the Soviet subs some distance out from the ships, as if they get close enough, you might be screwed. Lost HMS Hampshire to a Badger launched missile, so I felt it imperative to move Wasp ...

Suggestion for ASW Patrol missions

I think it would be a good idea to add certain options to ASW patrol missions, specifically for ASW Aircraft.

I've often had situations where I effectively need to cover a large area with ASW aircraft, but naturally this means alot of Sonobouys end up getting wasted.

While the game does allow up ...

Re: Pakistan shot down an Indian Rafale from ~200 km using a Chinese PL-15 missile

I'll have to see alot more verifiable data to believe a kill of that kind at that range.

I can buy a J-10 with that missile blasting, say, a tanker, drone, or heavy bomber at that range, but a Gen 4.5 fighter?

The Rafale is a recent addition to the Indian Air Force (2022), and no question such ...

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

I've completed a playthrough of the fully revised scenario.

Got an "Average" with a score of 490. I was able to find and sink two of the Whiskey Long Bins after they had already fired missiles (which missed due to being jammed), as well as 3x regular Whiskeys.

I never encountered any subs on the ...

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

Sweet! I'll dive into it after work today.

Is the Soviet strategy still basically the same, where, among other things, you have to stop the Whiskey Long Bins from getting through the Orkney-Shetland-Bergen (OSB) line?

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

Actually, the S-2s should be able to reload at Kinloss...the US and the UK used some of the same ASW weapons.

Ah, I'll have to double check on the magazines at Kinloss. If this is true, than it would be prudent for the player to transfer one of the Tracker squadrons there to reinforce the ...

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

I've completed my most recent attempt with my strategy to concentrate on the Orkney-Shetland-Bergen line.

I got the Wasp on station, and I ended up finding and sinking 4x submarines, but all the Whiskey Long Bins got through, and I lost all but one of the detached RN surface ships. There's largely ...

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

I've taken a couple attempts at this, and while I have found and blasted a few subs, this is really challenging.

If this is what the UK Home Fleet destroyers were like in 1968, then they were screwed without constant air support. Not having ASW Torpedoes is a massive handicap due to the short ...

A2A Tanker Support advice

One aspect of Command that I'm pretty weak on is setting up tanker support for aircraft flying long range missions, particularly strike missions.

What's a good rule-of-thumb/technique to determine how to set up Tanker support missions (i.e. if an aircraft's unrefueled Strike or Intercept Radius is ...

Re: British Efforts, 1968 - new beta for testing

Awesome! Unfortunately I saw this post AFTER I arrived at work, so I'll have to wait about 6 hours until I get home to try this out :(

UPDATE:

I've got it running, a few initial look notes:

1) The scenario title could use improvement, as it's rather bland I think. Maybe something like "Clearing ...

Re: CMO v1.08 Update - Build 1706

Yes I understand that, but yesterday there was a beta update thread made, and that thread (which had I think 5-6 comments) is gone

On second thought, I think I'm just losing my mind. I think I conflated that non-beta patch thread with this one.

Re: What CMO scenarios lack

This is generally a self-imposed limitation for the scenario designer for a few reasons:

1) It massively saves demand on the end use's PC hardware to not have hundreds of ships/aircraft to contact, model and process all at once. Not all Command users have ultra high-end PCs that can smoothly ...

Re: US Government Logos and Copyright. Safe for CMO Scenarios?

For starters, I seriously doubt you will be in trouble for using "CIA" as it's extremely well known and used everywhere.

Second, if it's for free community scenarios that you are not making money on, I don't see any issue.

Three, unlike corporations and private entities, the US Govt. is a public ...

UAPs in Command: A serious thought experiment

Now I know that the question of UAPs is a controversial one, but with the US Military in recent years having admitted to taking them somewhat seriously for the first time in several decades, I think it could be worth at least thinking about how they could conceivably be represented in Command.

They ...
