RE: Command LIVE: Kuril Sunrise is out

<r> I was wondering, why in the scenario there are Su-33s stationed in the Kurils, which are used only by Naval Aviation on the Kuznetsov carrier, instead of getting planes, that are actually deployed to the Russian Far East, like Su-35s and Su-34s? Also I have an issue with Russian defensive ...

RE: Naval and Defense News

I wonder if there would be a new scenario (or a renewed CMANO LIVE one) about current crisis in Syria, especially interesting since CVN-75 battlegroup left Norfolk today and might be near Syria cost in about a week.

The entertainment version of the game pretty much datalinks aircraft to ground radars anyways (detection) although we could add this as link. Very interesting stuff!<br/>

Su-27 Datalink

<r> Hello!<br/>
<br/>
I was playing one of the custom scenarios and noticed looking through the database, that Su-27 misses one feature, that might be very important in dogfight: its datalink system. Despite it being not as good as US countertypes, it could still help in combat.<br/>

It ...

RE: Eternal Spring [1968 Campaign]

<t> Yep, I made several entries, for instance, adding BRDM-1 as a recon vehicle, BRDM-1 with AT-2 as the first SP ATGM platform USSR got, allowed F-4Ds to be available in late 60s and made an AH-1G with guns + rockets. Also, made T-55s and T-62s as actual early version, as they intended to be (LRF ...

Eternal Spring [1968 Campaign]

<r> I was looking through the datafiles and I was surprised by how many ancient and simply old units are present there but almost never used. Thus, I decided to fill that gap (though some changes were needed) and started working on a 1968 campaign "Eternal Spring"<br/>

RE: Platoon units for USSR

That's a good argument, okay, I think that might be wrong realism-wise, though I've surely heard of platoon acting separately in cases of special forces. Let it be that way. More challenge then. :)

RE: Platoon units for USSR

<t> Okay, well, maybe it's not wrong, but that still limits tactical abilities of WarPac to basically "zerg rush"-style tactics with no ability to perform any complicated maneuvers in depth given the size of maps (4 battle counters per battalion instead of 12), maybe introduce it with something like ...

Platoon units for USSR

<r> What I was wondering, is why NATO can use platoon-sized forces separately (allowing to spread out properly and evade large losses), while Soviets lack this ability. I was answered once that it's part of the Soviet doctrine to use companies as a tactical unit, so I decided to find any proofs for ...

RE: Soviet Regimental Icons

<t> I can hand draw icons and distribute it as whatever license is better (maybe CC-BY or just CC) and to top that national or governmental symbols aren't subjects to copyright if I remember it correctly, but the point is that it won't be possible to see the difference until I make some non ...

On second thought, banners might be a bad idea, since names won't be seen due to their length and small size of the icon.

RE: Russia could steamroll the baltics in 36 hours

<r> Yeah, I've read it, but still the overall balance still favors NATO, not in the immediate point of view, true, supposedly Russian forces take Baltic states, but then as NATO forces deploy the balance will shift to West with not much difficulties given technological difference.<br/>

RE: Russia could steamroll the baltics in 36 hours

<t> And then note that one US brigade is worth at least 2 Soviet/Russian regiments in terms of both equipment nd manpower. And this is US forces alone, overall NATO outguns Russian forces, while having technological superiority. So both politicaly and military Russia is on defensive. Even during ...

RE: Soviet Regimental Icons

<t> Well, badges are a new system, since Soviet military tradition wasn't that strong, we had only banners and decorations.<br/>

Overall, the banner would consist of a full historical or new unit/formation name in yellow under either a yellow-on-red star or a Guards insignia, if it's a Guard ...

Soviet Regimental Icons

<t> Well, that's not exactly a bug, but what bugs me is the icons used for Soviet player, they're all from modern post 1991 era, almost all of them have "Russian Federation" on them or modern RF flag.<br/>
<br/>
That doesn't affect gameplay, so not exactly a bug or glitch, as I've said, so not a ...
