I have had good luck using airborne units on ground attacks against city hexes. Is this part of their special abilities as elite troops, or have I just been lucky.

Loki suggested putting a corps HQ on airbases near the front that you are dropping supplies to. Is this to better supply the support units for that corpse or are there other benefits.

I don’t know about the Axis, but my observation of the Allies Corp HQ’s is there are no differences other than what is in your control i.e. the commander, units attached and the army it is attached to.

Are any of the anti-aircraft support units helpful for anti-tank? For instance, in a pinch, can an AA auto-wpns battalion effectively substitute for an anti-tank or tank destroyer?

That's a good question. I have also been wondering do you get fewer general supplies, fuel, and ammo when a unit is in refit mode? i.e. does the unit receive the same amount of freight it would have, but some is turned into reinforcements?
