Re: Naval and Defense News

Having a fleet of low flying drones carry MAD detector might still be handy. But for ASW plane with MAD, man, that is so 1960s.

Re: Aircraft Range and Load out

Hi Thanks for the reply. I understand the weapons are packages, my enquiry was whether there is a difference between each package regarding the range, caused by weight drag etc. Carrying 2 AMRAAMs and 2 AIM-9z must cause less drag and weigh less than a much heavier load and allow for greater range ...

Re: GBU-32 JDAM speed issue

Okay, there are three inter-related factors at work:

1) Guided weapons had somewhat excessive sensor signatures, because we used the wingspan as the main reference dimensions for auto-calculating them. In DBv499+ we switched to using the body diameter as the reference value instead. This is ...

Re: When to fire missiles?

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10201&t=392372&start=80
(look at the column of WRA 25% max)

a short answer is , to ensure you don't waste missile, fire at 25%-40% WRA is a safe option for most of the BVR missiles. (NEZ is an overkill)

However, you may have to put the WRA between ...

Re: What happened to the AMRAAM ranges?

it's not about overhaul of the missile flight model. this is about the DB change.

bladesinger79 means the AIM-120A and AIM-120B's max range changed from 40nm to 27nm. That happened sometime last year during one of the Tiny update + DB update.

lol, highly effective Russian GBAD.....

Yes, super effective as it caused lots of friendly fire incidents. The author has a good sense of dark humor...

Noticed the same issue on PL-12,
Looks like NEZ setting doesn't work at this moment.

Re: Weapon endgame. Makes no sense to me. Please help.

Back in CMANO days, this is how the final PoH calculated. I think the CMO is using the same formula

Final PH = Weapon Base PH - distance adjustment – [A/C Agility at current Altitude x Proficiency coefficient<1> x Weight adjustment coefficient x (1-damage%) x impact location coefficient] – Sea ...

Re: Weapon endgame. Makes no sense to me. Please help.

I think you should post a save in Tech support. It looks like the AIM-120D does not have the PH adjusted for distance for some reason.

Yes, a save file would be helpful but from the log it looks like the F-16 fire the AIM-120D at close range so it doesn't suffer long distance penalty

Re: Questions about radar, detection, identification and engagement

That would lead to earlier engagements sure, but that wouldn't solve the problem. If they're free to engage any target might they not engage a civilian airliner, or a neutral power's as yet unidentified craft, or even potentially an ally's unit before it's identified? With a SAM like the S-400 ...

Re: Questions about radar, detection, identification and engagement

but the S-300 and S-400 never turn their sensors on to engage. Why the difference?

Finally (for now) are there other types of ground based units that can classify and identify the aircraft? For instance things I could place farther away from what I'm protecting that will make the ID and allow ...

Best land based radar?
P-14 early warning radar in a SA-5(S-200) SAM Site. This thing can detect B-2 at 50nm away. :D

RE: Automatic evasion

<t> Adding more salt into this "turn auto evasion off and winning a BVR duel" thing<br/>
I remember someone complained that in this game the height and speed don't translate into an air battle advantage. <br/>
So here is a gamey move. Turn off the auto evasion, set attack altitude to 100ft. when ...
