I also do not see any launch discount, just the bundle discounts.

RE: Fighting withdrawal with USSR

<t> That's not quite true about the AI's ineptitude. For instance I built a defensive line in the south along the river, connected to forest and city hexes, with nearly all the river hexes fortified.<br/>
<br/>
This line was broken in 2-3 turns, and completely smashed in 4. Frankly, German tanks ...

RE: Morale question

<r> Thanks, I just finished this campaign - lost as the Allies in 1916, down to the last man basically. I compared research with my opponent and we were on a par except for his getting Infantry Weapons 3.<br/>
<br/>
I think what actually created the effect I witnessed was my opponent's force ...

RE: Morale question

<t> Interesting - is it not the case that this allows a bit of an exploit? It seems that good commanders cost more to purchase, so that I could purchase a cheap commander, sack him, and replace him with a better one? I suppose sacking has a commensurate price? (I'll give it a shot soon in a test ...

RE: Morale question

Oh interesting, there is a cap as to how much they can improve friendly troops? I imagined it was just a range that changed with command rating, will have to investigate more.

I haven't tried sacking yet - I assume it must be cheaper than purchasing another HQ then.

Morale question

<t> After reading the manual and playing a few games, I'm not confident I understand how morale functions.<br/>
<br/>
I'm playing a game where my opponent has managed to keep most units above 100% morale and readiness, usually 120. However I noticed that the British units I've had sitting in ...

RE: attacking zero supply sub

<t> Playing a game right now where, through smart unit cycling (i.e. pressing an entire Navy onto 1 unit at a time), the Central Powers player has decimated the British, French, and Italian navies. Subs have been absolutely the most brutal and most common enemy unit I've encountered as the Entente ...

RE: Central Powers A.I. when playing only 1 faction

<t> I've found the same thing across two games, so will toss in some feedback.<br/>
<br/>
I found while playing Germany only that the Austrians were hesitant to push into Serbia on their own - sending the first German deployable troops toward Serbia was the most effective way to get Serbia done ...

RE: A new Strategic Command is arriving

Right on, I was hoping this would happen (to take a look at the Pacific, without going back to the old Pacific-only game).

RE: Armored Brigade Dev Diary #2 - Planning the Battle

Awesome, I've been playing Armored Brigade since the freeware days, and I learned a few things. I had no idea about the no command delay on disabled waypoints! I'm definitely going to front-load more planning in the setup phase using these.

RE: Tarawa landings

Strangely, the TOAW 3 version of the same scenario functions - the AI was able to get the Marines to the beach in the first game. It seems like there may be something in the TOAW 4 naval code that is making the artillery do more damage, perhaps?

RE: Tarawa landings

I just did a test, allowing the AI to control the Marine landing - and they were all annihilated as well. Not one unit made it to the beach.

Tarawa landings

<t> I've played this scenario maybe 10 times, and all but once I never got any units to the shore. Eventually, my tactic became to land everyone ahistorically on the pier, and branch out from there.<br/>
<br/>
Units approaching the beaches any time after the initial bombardment are vaporized and ...

RE: 1st Panzer Army - Second Mission

<t> Well, the AAR has helped a lot in terms of strategy, but I'm just losing in a new way. Not trying to bag on the mission design really, but I'm not sure that the battles went anything like this based on my limited reading so far.<br/>

It seems that the Soviets conducted defensive ...

1st Panzer Army - Second Mission

<t> Just to preface, I've played several Barbarossa games and the entire linked campaign in DC1 several times, so I'm not new to this series.<br/>

However, I'm having a lot of trouble in the second mission in the 1st Panzer Army linked campaign. There is some cognitive dissonance I'm ...

RE: Austria to tear down Hitler birth house

<t> It sounds like, in a lot of posts, the given law at any time is being conflated with morality - or the law is taken as an accurate reflection of morality.<br/>
<br/>
This confusion becomes more clear when you look at textualist republican or libertarian stances on things like gay marriage. I ...
