Re: How Strategic Command American Civil War succeeds as a strategic and operational game

I was not referring to "five pointers" but units which could regenerate to ten points. The next time I run into the situation then I'll attempt to provide screenshots to you.

Re: How Strategic Command American Civil War succeeds as a strategic and operational game

Are you normally this rude to others? Have you considered that you have already invested so much time as a tester that you are too close to the game to recognize that others may have a different perspective? When I see AI units which are completely surrounded and not close to a HQ unit and yet still...

Re: How Strategic Command American Civil War succeeds as a strategic and operational game

I am really dating myself but I started with AH's Tactics game and even played their Civil War game. This game is not "fun" to play. The map scaling is far larger than other games in the SC line which makes it easy to miss things and hard to implement a grand strategy. Consequently, it tak...

Re: first impressions

But, you can see the whole map on your table. You can't do that with this game. That's the difference for me but you like it and that's fine. But, its map scale is not at all in keeping with what we've seen in the SC line of games. I bought it because I was expecting something similar to other SC ga...

Re: Strategic Command: American Civil War Out Now

I started on full HD mode and that didn't really help. In contrast to other games in the SC series, the map is simply too large to be a playable game for me. It reminded me of something similar to Grigsby's War in the East game in terms of the scale of the game. That's not what I'm looking for in a ...

Re: first impressions

I tried changing the resolution with no real improvement and I really do not want to have to play around with map files. I'm to the point of thinking that the real issue is the scale of the game itself. It's just too large. I shouldn't have to go through so much map movement to try to get a general ...

Re: first impressions

I've tried several campaigns and the map is so large that the game is unplayable even with zoom. You need more zoom levels and a better strategic map. In the meanwhile, I would hold off purchasing this game.

Re: Another game I have to play with Zoomit

As far as I'm concerned, the game is unplayable given the current zoom levels. This is very disappointing.

Re: Strategic Command: American Civil War Out Now

I would recommend that players wait to purchase this product until something is done with the scale of the map. The map is so much larger than other games in the SC series that even with zoom that I found the game unplayable.

Map is far too large

The map scale in SC:ACW is far larger than I've seen in other games in the series. Even with the campaign map, it's hard to get a picture of all your forces. I don't know you address it but as a player I feel lost and it's not fun having to scroll the map just for situational awareness. I know that ...

Strategic Command Civil War Icons

Please, please give players the option to use icons similar to those in the other SC series. For example, I prefer the aircraft icon in SC-War in Europe to the actual representation of a Stuka.

8MBs of Video Memory???

The game requirements refer to the video card needing 8MB of memory. Isn't this going to limit the number of us who can play this game without splurging for a new card for the PC?

More accurate but less fun...

<t> I am a longtime player of the Strategic Command series of games. The latest version SC WWII War in Europe may be more accurate with a more challenging AI but something crucial has been lost. It's no longer the "beer and pretzels" game where you could turn down the realism and have a game you cou...
