Ideally you would think that if the torpedo detects a target in it's sensor cone it would then ignore the waypoint and attack automatically but from my experience, that's not what happens. It will ignore the target and continue to the ...

c) BOL fire the torpedo (Ctrl+F1) set a waypoint near the target, then once the target is in the sensor cone, hit F1 and select the target unit to tell the torpedo to attack that unit. If you don't it will go to the waypoint then circle ...

RE: Question about firing torpedoes.

<t> The torpedoes are running at a depth of 33ft, against surface ships. The scenario has the sub attacking merchant ships, so no counter measures. I can see the arc indicating that the torpedoes are running active, and they do pass back and forth by the target ships. It just seems they never ...

Question about firing torpedoes.

<t> Hi, relatively new Command player here, though I played the heck out of Harpoon over the years. I am working my way through the tutorials to learn the new game, and I ran into a weird situation while playing the scenario "Uncle Mark's Tutorial - 4, - Boston Guards the Denmark Strait". When I ...

Ah, I understand now, historical accuracy [;)]

Thanks for the info, I look forward to trying the scenario.

Question about the Wargasm 1962 scenario.

<t> I was going to give this scenario a try, and the briefing talks about launching the 9 Atlas-E missiles early in the scenario. But I am unable to locate these missiles. I can find the bombers ok, but not the missiles. Can anyone who has played this scenario shed some light on which base these ...

RE: Showing stack info in Info Panel possible? (wishlist)

This is an interesting suggestion, I think it would be useful in many situations.

RE: Thanks

<t> I'll add my Thanks! in here too. I had not played my copy of TOAW3 in a few years, but decided to take the plunge on this new version of the game and I am pleasantly surprised with the quality and look of the update. I'm am relearning how to play the game and reading my way through the manual ...

RE: Olympic '45

Does this scenario need to be opened in the TOAW IV editor to convert it, or has that already been done? I'm kind of new to this game, but I have picked up on some things from reading this forum.

RE: Why the Axis lost. Axis AAR

<t> That could be a way to get the French/CW to react as they did historically. I've tried a few variations when Germany finally attacks in the West, and I always find the French and CW still in Northeastern France, and no way to perform the armor sweep to the Channel and cut off those forces. They ...

I saw what you typed, and that helped. I was just trying to answer Bo's question. But looking at my reply, it appeared I was still confused...that will teach me to reply to posts and try to work at the same time ;^)

RE: How does one invade Malta?

<t> Bo, when I say "transport" I meant the actual ship icon. From the manual:<br/>
"To help soften up the target before a landing is made, Amphibious Transports can themselves attack an enemy unit occupying a coastal hex, before the unit they are carrying is landed. This feature enables amphibious ...

RE: How does one invade Malta?

<t> Ok, that makes sense. But the problem I was having was I didn't even get the option to try to attack. I could attack Malta with the transport, but when I right-clicked on the transport, there was no option for the troops to attack or unload. When I turned the unit around and went back to Sicily ...

RE: How does one invade Malta?

So it can be done! It sounds like you have to destroy the defender first though? Since this is my first attempt at an amphibious invasion, does the game not allow you to land on an occupied hex and fight it out? I haven't found anything in the manual that says you can or you can't do that.

RE: How does one invade Malta?

<t> I'm not arguing whether or not invading should be easier or harder depending on bombardment, I'm willing to sacrifice many Italian lives for this island ;^) It just appears that I am not allowed to unload the troops no matter what I tried, that's why I posted this question. I appreciate the ...

RE: How does one invade Malta?

<t> Odd that I can use the amphibious transport to attack the island, but can't land troops on it because it's occupied by a single AA unit. Has anyone tried an airborne assault onto it? Probably wouldn't be pretty for the airborne unit, but I can't believe I can't invade the island. Makes me wonder ...

How does one invade Malta?

<t> I've read through the manual, and using an amphibious transport to invade looks pretty simple, but I cannot figure out how to invade Malta. I have my Italian corps in Sicily, I load them into an amphibious transport, waited a turn so they could reach Malta, I am at war with the Allies, and I can ...
