Re: What next for Valer & Victory in 2024 ?

Some good ideas there.

Maybe
Blitzkrieg 39 and 40 could be added as a single DLC.
The early war units are always fun.

Re: Valor & Victory UNIQUE LEADERS Counter Graphics

These look really good.
Got interested in game again after just buying the Pacific DLC in latest steam sale.
Will try them out soon.
I like how you have some realistic looking units in contrast to the cartoon style of the current vanilla units.

Thank you for making this.

Re: Steam version of The Longest Day

I think I have found a solution for this issue.
If I pick 1280 by 720 res.
I pick use DPI.
Then I use Windows Scale & Layout ,set to 150%.

This gives me an exact 1920by1080 window.
Only had a quick test in the CC2 remake game , I think it would work here too.
The low res is OK , I got used to it ...

Re: Steam version of The Longest Day

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked 2 other games I have on Steam.
Close Combat - Panthers in the Fog
Close Combat - Gateway to Caen
These work perfectly ,with 768p becoming fullscreen ,and making the soldiers and vehicles nicely visible without squinting.

My query , I know The Longest Day ...

Re: Steam version of The Longest Day

I tried DPI that does not make a difference.

Try yourself , pick 768p and DPI.
See when you next start game that is only a small window on the 1080p monitor and there is no way to maximize the small window to fill entire screen.

I am curious though,
you use 2160p,
I assume you must choose 2160p ...

Steam version of The Longest Day

768p fullscreen on 1080p monitor
I like the 768p resolution that is stretched to fullscreen.
How can I do this?

My monitor is 1920 by 1080.
I wanted the soldiers and tanks bigger so I can see them properly.

If I alt enter or press f11 the 1366 by 768 window does not go full screen.

Ideas.

Re: NATO Symbols

Maybe buy the game at Steam Sale time.
The base game itself ,and combined with existing available mods is fun and has a fair amount of content.
The Global war mod in particular enables scenario creation of many different Country Armies.
Scenario creation is quite user friendly.
Also a random battle ...

Re: NATO Symbols

For the Steam version if you look here
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valor and Victory\assets\counters
There is a number of folders like "afvs" or "units".
These contain pictures ,for example infantry pictures in "units.png".
You could modify these with a paint program ,like Gimp ...

Re: Scenario Editor Defence LOS

Thank you for the consideration.
It really would be great if you could implement such a variable viewing distance.

I have a new query.

And found this worked and was fun to do.
Would it be possible for me to ...

Re: Scenario Editor Defence LOS

I had another idea that might achieve my aim of shorter lines of sight (LOS).

Maybe MAXIMUM VISIBILITY could be introduced into the Scenario Editor.
That way I could pick say 8,12,16 hexes max visibility and this would work great for my own scenarios.
It would solve problem of AFV fire being too ...

Re: WASD map scrolling issue

The map can be scrolled with the mouse cursor and this works well.

AND;

I am very happy to play this game ,and am glad the developer has made the game available for me and others to enjoy.
Good Job.

I just thought this little change I have suggested would make the game EVEN better.

I enjoy some of your WDS stuff by the way,

QOL suggestions.

(1)Combat Resolution Table on/off option.

(2)Bottom UI ,scalability to become smaller -at present only larger is an option.

(3)Tool Tip to check terrain in a hex.

These suggestions would add a lot to the game.
I have listed them in the order I would most like implemented.

WASD map scrolling issue

When I press one of the map scroll keys (WASD) then the map only moves a single space in that direction.

I have to repeatedly press the same key to keep the map moving.

Can the function be added to the game ,where when I hold a WASD key down ,that the moves without me having to hit the key for ...

Scenario Editor Defence LOS

Could a defence construction be added that blocks line of sight?

That way I could have more variation in making scenarios.
I want shorter lines of sight to make AFV and Gun use more interesting and varied.
The unlimited range of Guns (AFV and AT) makes the non urban maps lacking in tactical choices ...

Perhaps not straight away.

And in relation to the the other great comment "Just 1 needed component (imho)...a full editor." ,I think a Map editor would really add WONDERS to the games potential.
