Re: Where the Chrysanthemums Grow - DesertWolf101 (J) vs ITAKLinus (A)

Good afternoon everyone,

After a prolonged absence, I am pleased to access to this AAR, which I had not read except for the final page, so to apologize.

Regrettably, I was forced to interrupt the game abruptly due to professional obligations. At the time, I was involved in evacuating a large ...

Re: "Set Static" - Opinions

I am not convinced, so I do ask: what's the general consensus about the practice?

I dont use it. The benefits from it are not big enough to outweigh the cost (becoming completely immobile). You want your units to be as mobile as possible both in case you need to put pressure on a front and ...

Re: Airbase bombing and interception

Thanks for the precise reply, Joel. It's great to see such a commitment to make the game even better than it currently is.

Premise: I am fairly new to WITE-2 and I do play my current PBEM with the old 1.02.25, hence, my words carry little significance. Also, I am a keen lover of the real time ...

Re: Ranges (units of measure)?

On the other hand, as far as I can tell, armor statistics are given in mm for everyone.

At least, that's what it seems like. F.ex. the magnificent Panzer III-j has '49' of frontal armor, which I do infer is 49mm.

Tanks&co all seem in millimeters. Do you americans measure armor in mm just like us?

Re: Ranges (units of measure)?

To me, it's an issue since WITPAE.

Being European, I am accustomed to the metric system only and all these mph made me mad for years! :D

Still nowadays, I know by heart all the statistics of every Japanese piece of equipment but I have no clue of their metric correspondent at first sight. I know ...

"Set Static" - Opinions

Hi everyone,

In my current PBEM, we've finally reached 1942 and, thus, the option to set units static has been enabled.

Since I'm not swimming in trucks, I've set static a decent line of regiments defending south of Lake Ilmen, with a couple more left mobile to act as reserve in second line. I ...

Re: Do you ever use AI Air Assist?

Used it at the very very beginning against IA while trying to figure out 'how does the function think' and quickly dropped it ASAP.

In general, I do use the air force very little for anything that's not CAP or recon. Still at the beginning of '42 I've not brought out of the 22/06/41 borders any ...

Re: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE set Color for Individual units

The process mentioned above does work but it's really not sustainable for more than a turn or two. I do see it reasonably usable during Axis T001, but that's it: no way it can be used for every turn...

Frankly, I would like to have the 'set color' back for everyone.

Re: Air war is high effort

Yeah! The air bases and AOGs are very very important and I'm glad they've been put into the game.

The separate phase however... Again, it's probably just my poor skill, however I don't see any kind of light at the end of the tunnel...

I ask myself why should I lose precious freight for bombers ...

Re: Air war is high effort

I might be a black sheep, but I don't like at all the entire air system with the separate phase.

My feeling is that there is: no flexibility, rather odd mechanics and the planes themselves do relatively little a part from blowing up.

WITE-1 had a better air system, even if quite abstract and ...

Re: POLL - Can Germany win Early before winter in 41?

with equally skilled non newbies players i give 0%

I am new to WITE-2, but I'd say the key here is ' equal skill '. In that case, I guess it's kinda of 2-5% if the Russian player does something preposterously wrong in the disposition of his forces, such as a badly ended attempt to do a massive ...

Re: How much time do you take to do your WITE2 turn? (German version)

I feel the same overwhelming cliff when I want to dive into WitP Admiral’s edition.

How do you feel the two games compare?

WITPAE is millions of times funnier to be honest, but it's also much more click-intenstive, with awful interface organization and many other drawbacks.

WITE-2 seems ...

Thanks for the beatiful AAR.

I feel your statements about logistics closely resemble my impressions. Beware, I still play with the 1.02.25 but I don't think it has changed much?

The entire logistical system is quite skewed to be honest. There are many bizarre things happening, which is somehow ...

Re: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE set Color for Individual units

+1

In WITE 1 I had a goddam huge excel with every corps' colors and all the different tonalities of a single one etcetc

In WITE-2 there is the wonderful thing of having the palette instead of putting the RGB values, which saves a lot of time, but then you can't set divisions' colors! Horror! I ...

Re: Odessa

I tell you what I think it's the best, which is along the lines of everyone else.

1) Siege artillery. You have various support units with heavy stuff. Roughly 6-8 SUs. Assign them to an HQ.
2) No tanks, infantry is best
3) Each infantry division must have 100% CPP, proper supplies and of course 3 ...

I reopened the T010 of my current PBEM.

We are still playing with an old patch however, 1.02.25

END OF TURN 10

Trucks in repair : 61.476

Trucks in units: 301.809 (310.245)
Trucks in pool: 12.510
Vehicles lost: 28.072
Vehicles captured: 18.495
Vehicles lost (captured): 23
