RE: The World at War ELO Tournament

Smckechnie (Axis) defeats Aricogut (allies). He is still learning.

New game ELO DAVE 123 (allies) vs smckechnie (axis). Dave is new to ELO but has played lots.

RE: How does Italy flip?

Italy doesn’t really ever flip diplomatically.

Once Italy is conquered by the allies and Rome is held. A new Italy joins the allies.

It is possible for Italy to be conquered but then not flip to the allies until Rome falls.

RE: Vinegar Joe Stilwell

<t> Here is the problem with Stillwell.<br/> <br/> 1. He can only command Chinese troops which is historically inaccurate, as he really mostly commanded British and US forces. <br/> 2. He spawns right when Axis are usually closing in on destroying Wanting and Kunming. At least against veteran and el...

Russians don’t move into Poland

<t> This maybe a question for the developers, but does anyone know how much mobilization that Russia loses from moving into Poland after Germany takes it?<br/> <br/> I ask this, because in a recent game, I had an opponent not move into Poland and it seems that Russian mobilization is way higher than...

I will play this scenario if you haven't found anyone to play it yet. Which side are you wanting to play?

RE: Invading allied minors

<t> Comments below:<br/> <br/> 1. The Yugoslavia minor situation should be left alone. If the axis attack Yugoslavia early, then they mobilize Russia 7-10%. This is not unsignificant number. In my opinion, big mistake for Axis to attack Yugoslavia early as the cost is too high in terms of the increa...

RE: Questions about Finland

<t> A things to note on Finland:<br/> <br/> 1. If the allies intervene in the winter war launched by the Soviets and it is successful it will move Finland to an Allied diplomatic tilt and the Soviets will get killed on their mobilization. <br/> 2. All the axis have to do to get Finland to join the w...

RE: LRT Invasions

<t> I think that you keep the LRT’s as is. Against veteran or elite opponents the axis already have the advantage so this would be tilting something else in there direction.<br/> <br/> A few other comments:<br/> <br/> 1. Tunis should be able to be taken and the port not damaged hardly at all from ei...

RE: Bombing HQ and Supply

<t> You usually don't have to worry about your HQ's getting hit on the Eastern Front until later in the war and if you are in trouble as the axis. However, here are some steps to take to protect your HQ's and the axis homelands. <br/> <br/> 1. Have the HQ's accompanied by AA unit. <br/> 2. Put the H...

Looking for new ELO game opponent.

Game realities vs real history

<t> Here are some things to think about for Swedish diplomatic reaction. First some historical background. <br/> <br/> 1. Sweden’s overall goal was to stay neutral and not get invaded. <br/> 2. When Norway got invaded by the Germans this actually moved Sweden to be closer to Germany until 1943. Swed...

RE: Tech guide update

<t> Thanks for the link. <br/> <br/> A couple of other things to note, they did lower the research breakthrough chance to start hitting at lower than 45%. So, if the US has 2 to S&I by the end of 1940, On any tech that they are putting 2 chits towards they are getting a 14% chance of a research ...

RE: Tech guide update

<t> I think that the US research towards S&I should be at a higher priority than Marcinos has it, but some of this is just personal preference based on Strategy being done. <br/> <br/> Here is the logic. You put 2 chits towards S&I after Ind tech. Then another after you hit the first researc...

How come Spain did not join the Axis from them taking the whole of France? Did he opt not to take Spain as an ally?

Next Tournament

Hubert,

So I missed out on the first tournament. I would like to participate in the next one.

When is the next tournament going to start? I think there is lots of interest, so maybe more slots?

Thanks,

RE: Response to invasion of France

<t> Lots of what you do for the allies depends on who you are playing and your overall allied strategy. I am still learning how to play the allies better. I actually think that the allies are harder to play effectively especially early on in the war. <br/> <br/> Here are some more thoughts<br/> <br/...

RE: Response to invasion of France

<t> There is not much that France or England can do to help Lux, Belgium, or Holland whenever the axis attack. Here are the few things that could be done though.<br/> 1. Position the RAF and French fighters so that they may fly defensive air support for Belgium or Holland. It is not certain that the...
