Need advice on proper patching of the game

Forums back at Ageod demand each new post pass screening before getting posted, making it really hard to find advice on this game. Can anyone advice on what is the best patching configuration? There is The last official patch: 1.03.01 (2016) The last unofficial extensive patch: 1.04 Beta, with a 1.0...

Questions on PBEM

Guess I discovered the game a tad too late. It's a fantastic one though. I'd say that it is to WW1 what GGWiE is to WW2. Couple of questions on PBEM 1. How does it work? Can't find any internal interface for it. Do you have to manually exchange save game files via e-mail? 2. Can 2 players play the g...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

ELO game ends:
Ktonos(Axis) [WIN] vs. Pekkavilamoura (Allies) [LOSS]

Allies resigned early 1944 as Russia capitulated. Axis got Egypt early but couldn't push to Iraq, China suffered throughout game. US heavily invested its fleets to the Atlantic leaving Japs uncontested in the Pacific.

Re: Italy ready to invade California

How can you see the deployments of the enemy in the first map? You're playing without fog of war against the AI?

Seeking ELO game, any side

House rules can be discussed. I don't care about the naval exp farm, I don't do it though my self. I wouldn't like Italian fleets out of Med before Dow, but its negotiable. No early attack on Japan for sure.

Anyone interested PM me, or leave a post here.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

ELO game finished: Ktonos (axis) [WIN] vs Pekkavilamoura (allies) [LOSS], February 1944 by resignation Match snowballed from 1942 onward. I dont think I ever had this luck in a SC game, not that I remember. All major rolls went my way. Germans had Tanks-3, Ground attack-2 on the eve of Barbarossa. I...

Re: Includes a standard deviation score in PBEM

I don't really think that reloading for specific combat results is an issue. Maybe there's a player or two that go as far as this, but I believe mostly the problem lies elsewhere. Most of the cheating goes about scouting enemy positions, and mostly naval ones. Or better, redoing a messy turn.. A pla...

Re: Includes a standard deviation score in PBEM

* Add a reload counter - to distinguish those who save/exit/save - a reload is only the subsequent save of the same load file. For example, you load turn, make a few moves, save/exit, come back later and do the same, etc. - reload counter is still 1. You load game, make some turns, your PC crashes,...

Re: Includes a standard deviation score in PBEM

I always assumed that everyone's play routine was load a new turn and finish it in one sitting. At least thats my routine. Almost all the reloads I had were due to a Pbem error at the end turn. In all these years of playing SC games, there are like 2-3 maybe 4 times I got to save mid turn because of...

Re: Includes a standard deviation score in PBEM

I got only once such a message before, after a sole reload of a turn (initial play crashed on Pbem error). The thing is, does the opponent get it too? ie was my opponent notified that I reloaded the turn? Because if not, then its a moot mechanic. I also experienced strings of "perfect results&q...

Re: Russia tech luck

Russia Inf 2 by Barbarossa is a significant breakthrough for the Allies. Usually under normal circumstances, on Barb, Germany just completed its Inf-2, and Russia is close to complete it and it comes about the time of Russian winter. Ofc that differs from game to game. And lets not forget the S&...

Re: DEI Diplomacy - Too powerful

How is it luck, when you can counter it? I mean, yes, luck is involved, but 100%? What about Spain diplo, or Turkey. Unless you speak of the diplo system in general, and the crits doing 20-30%. And if this is so crucial, why not invest asap as many chits possible to counter it? Not sure of how many ...

Re: DEI Diplomacy - Too powerful

I think its cool. Axis usually goes for Spain/Turkey. Japs, usually avoid spending on Diplo. Game is dynamic. If allies go all in for DEI, axis must react or risk consequences. I mean Germany can go for example with 3 chits for Spain and keep the other 2 reserve. Japan can sacrifice a tech chit, and...

Re: Display of 10-hexes from Warsaw indications

So when I breach it moving a unit in range, the icons appear. If I move it away in the same turn, they remain for until next round. Does that mean, that the penalty applies if there are 18+ units at anytime during your turn? Because I always thought it was applied at end turn. Also, it would be very...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

ELO ended Ktonos (Allies) defeats JNaspirant (Axis) by surrender. Allied victory, Axis resigned on October 1942. Bloody battles in China and in the East, but Russians held outside of Moscow and Stalingrad, and conserved power. In the West it was Sitzkrieg, Axis chose to not contest Africa, which pre...

Any way to bypass the PBEM error collapse?

So, in late war especially, a turn takes maybe even 30 or more minutes to play. Every time I press end turn, I stare in terror at the "uploading" message, dreading the possibility it won't end in a "turn successfully uploaded", but in a PBEM error. Not only you feel like losing 3...

Re: Americans alarmed by Italian ships in Channel, come on man

Easy fix: no axis surface fleet goes through a UK Gibraltar. Uboats ok, but warships? Even in peace, Italians shouldnt be able to cross their whole fleet with impunity. But, if you want all axis navy to use the Gibraltar loops, then, I'd say, yes, US would be indifferent. But England wouldnt. They w...
