Defending Russia

So I've played a number of games against the AI and have done pretty good as the Soviets. i.e. try not to get surrounded and slowly retreat until Winter.

I think I've figured out supply and defense, building forts and so on. I am surprised how often the Axis just blow through units, despite being ...

Re: First GC game as USSR...any advice?

Thanks for the advice. This is good stuff. I think I've figured out supply and defense, building forts and so on. The air game is pretty hard though - and it's difficult to know if I'm doing that correctly. I've sent all my level bombers to the reserve so mainly have fighters and fighter-bombers ...

General error [15]

I haven't played Strategic Command WWI in a while but now I'm having trouble trying to save or quit games. The program tries to upload and then I get a "General error [15] - try again later" message and the game hangs.

I've verified game file integrity.

Any solutions?

RE: 1911 Anglo-German Alliance - Beta release! Come and play!

Hi, I also wanted to know of any progress. Trying to use the 1911 mod but getting a general connection error [15] message. I think this mod is amazing, really good alternate history. I actually played a game against the AI and won by , holding Tehran, conquering Paris, and taking Poland.

Ah, the naval unit outside Helsinki - completely random; sub ran into a German destroyer in the Baltic and ended up stopped next to Helsinki. <br/>

RE: Soviets and China tips

I've had more luck with the Chinese. They need to dig in, with HQs nearby, and get infantry research done ASAP. With that they can hold off the Japanese. I also built an arty and AA or two. If you're cautious and don't attack, you can rebuild faster than your losses.

Successful mid/late game Allied play?

<t> While have only played two games into 1942 (3rd game is in Apr 41), am having trouble understanding how the Allies can win. Early on it's particularly hard on Britain, as they have to build units, conduct research and hold the Middle East. The same applies to Russia and (to a lesser extent) the ...

RE: Soviets and China tips

<t> I've only played two WAW games; in the first I conquered Russia (taking Perm) in September 1943. In 2d game as Allies v AI (normal settings), I was too slow on infantry research and got slaughtered by the AI, losing Perm in March 1944. I tried running away from the AI early, and taking a stand ...

RE: PBEM Get Started Tutorial

Thanks. I did do the comprehensive uninstall, reboot, update and hotfix.

Revealing my ignorance I don't know what "compatibility setting for WinXp, Service Pack 2" means.

Install support tools? Change something in settings? I have Win10 Home.

Well, you have to remember the EiH 5.0 was written for Vassal or Cyberboard, so counters are theoretically unlimited.<br/>

After playtesting, we decided that overseas boxes (other than U.S. trade), privateers and some of the more extensive unit ...

RE: PBEM problems

For whatever reason this is not working. For example, on p.19 of the manual under client step 6 it asks for a move file not a sav file.

Would you be willing to walk through a setup/start with me? You as host, me as client and 5 AIs?
