RE: ADDED Units and Formations to data base

the AGM-65A... the electro optical missile could lock on targets at 22km in good ground conditions however... and the later thermal AGM-65D and the laser guided E models allowed it to fire even in night or low visibility conditions... the D model was already present by 1983 and the E by 1985

RE: do you guys find offmap arty useful vs the AI?

<t> ive had greater success with mortars imo... theyre faster to respond to enemy advances all the while bringing similar amounts of deadly firepower while being far cheaper... ive found heavy artillery to be useful only when engaging entrenched forces as NATO... how would u compare them to mortars ...

RE: What might be the best plan for 78~82s games for NATO?

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>Closing up and engaging at short range is a Soviet tactic. If you had masses of T-72, I'd do that instead. In this particular period, it's not necessarily a bad idea for NATO forces either, since their 105mm guns lack penetrating power. But you have better tools in your ...

RE: What might be the best plan for 78~82s games for NATO?

<r> <QUOTE><s>[quote]</s>You can use infantry ATGM teams in the mix. They're harder to deal with direct fires at long ranges and immune to ATGM. You may have to smoke some of the enemy so they won't take part in the fight, use air or what have you. But the entire point is to mass more firepower than ...

do you guys find offmap arty useful vs the AI?

<t> hi... i realize the importance of artillery both mortars and heavy to the overall dynamic of the battlefield... in real life a good artillery barrage can make or break an offense against an static defensive opponent... it is also a very useful tool for swatting out turtling players and setting ...
