Thank you, therefore it's not stock levels but likely bug or something else.

I see occasionally my exploration ships start exploring after being idle for few months or years,
I guess there is some other factor that wakes them up.

Exploration ships stop exploring, I think I know why.

I have 60 exploration ships, 27 of which are idle.

I did a bit of investigation to figure out why and they all have one common problem,
which is that none of them is able to refuel by using the "refuel" button.

However all of them are within refuel range and none is out of fuel completely,

First, there isn't a winning *pure strategy* in a 4x.

This isn't about probability, it's about certainty. Unfair games are solved games.

Given correct play, the outcome of the game is predetermined. I.e. one player can force the result and the other cannot do anything about it.
One player always wins. Not most of the time.

In addition to switching renderer which is a method of a lazy person, I suggest playing with GPU options in GPU control panel.

Often you can find a setting which is a game changer.

PDU's are the cheapest units, I load my invasion fleets with them as well to have less expensive invasion.
What's wrong with manually garisoning defense army? the AI troop management is not perfect anyway, it spams too much armies.

I should have been more detailed. I am finding that building the facilities does not equate to having their host colony retain the PDUs by having them be Garrisoned there.

The AI seems to consider PDUs invading units and are loaded despite the Troop Template for Invasion roles having 0% PDUs.

If you use lot's of area weapons you need to try and use a standoff method to engage the enemy or you will tend to hit your own ships as well. Also use fighters with long range weapons too.

With the small blast areas involved, the chance to hit any 2 spaceships is basically 0.

In this case, I have not researched anything higher than destroyers, and I have not removed the cruisers and higher from the template. Maybe if I did that this would not happen. I will find out what ship in the template is being replaced by escorts. Now I'm pretty sure it is an attack fleet ...

In your User Control Panel you can set your notification preferences for the forums and threads (topics) you want to follow, but I don't see a way to be notified about a particular user replying to your post.

That's what I always wondered about, but I never bothered because I use area weapons only on spaceports ...

1. Windows OS may install it's own driver soon after you install official AMD driver
2. Windows updates may not like the driver due to OS patches
