Re: Combat style

I do not know what the war in the east style is. So I'll tell what I did for combat models.

Naval combat is NOT resolved in the AE style. AE abstracted. We have artificial 3D models of the ships in game that move and fire on a per second time scale.
All shells and torps travel across the tactical ...

Re: Question re Opponent Replay

You can run multiple times if you continue your PBEM game again.
If you overwrite that save after running the turn you will no longer be able to run the turn again.

....
One question about the data management: Will include a possibility to export the turn-by-turn unit data into csv-files so that we could add-on potential anaylytical tools like PowerBI? For such a game, this seems to be a must-have to really analyse your status as a player each turn.

Re: Question re Opponent Replay

Sorry, but I am still confused. :?:

Based on Alessandro S. reply my understanding is the following:

In a PBEM game, both players will have the opportunty to watch the full turn resolution at the beginning of their respective next orders phase. It is still a WEGO concept.

So, one side enters ...

Re: War in Spain: engine choice makes sense — but I worry the theater choice may hurt the wrong conclusion

How about all of WW2, globally? 1 Day turns, company and battalion level land units, and every ship in the world over 500 tons. Of course, the entire globe in 5-mile hex increments

It should only take about 10 years to complete a Grand Campaign Game as a player, so why not?

I built the game ...

We need artwork for units / ships /air and scenario data. OOB / devices in use / leaders / industrial and resource economy data, etc.
If you happen to be a pro in any area for any given theater you may very well end up in one of our teams :)

Re: War in Spain: engine choice makes sense — but I worry the theater choice may hurt the wrong conclusion

We will not be discouraged. :)
Many more games are in the works. Building the scenario and map data / artwork is the main factor to consume time.
I mean, and this is just one example, one really has to know / find / search the number of star shells on a given Italian ship for one of it's 90mm ...

Re: War in Spain 1936-39| Dev Diary #3

Lastly will the AI make 'perfect' decisions every time? Will it have 'advantages' like other games where it can move units freely etc? And how will you make it so that players don't get badly beaten every time..
Thanks :)

The AI has no advantages over the human player. It does not cheat for ...

It does not take long to learn how to play. But it might take a while until you are a good player.
Currently we have no tools like Tracker or witpstaff.

Re: Font and icon scaling

I created the ingame magnifier for cases such as yours specifically.
The final version even got a magnifier API that updates the region to show as you move the cursor. Bill did this one as my magnifier only works with DirectX and ignores the external side bar window.

Asked. We have a new build pending for upload and then the next wave of testers will be added. Should be a matter of a few days. I asked for to have you among them. Fingers crossed.

Re: Question re Opponent Replay

I'm so pleased to hear that! PBEM just doesn't play well (IMHO) without a replay. My only real criticism about this engine has been that it didn't do that. I'll be all over this title. Thanks for the answer.

For PBEM the turn is resolved on each system. So there is no replay, but a full turn ...

Re: War In Spain !

Will any aspects of the game have more automation as an option?
For example in GGWE2 the Air war can be controlled by the AI.

Whilst I enjoy having control of all the minutia sometimes in WITPAE it can be a little daunting, especially for new players.

Yes. You can set air units to partial or ...

Re: War In Spain !

You can see the exact number of each device in any given unit. And the logistics ability of each unit is told as summary of the logistics devices. Normally there is no need to dig deep into the details of each unit for logistics.
Our smallest units in WIS are Battalions, normally. But the Spanish ...

Re: War In Spain !

Thanks for the info Alessandro. It would be very helpful to see a video of logistics and maybe some screenshots. Any system that is easier to understand, and more intuitive than the previous games will be an outstanding improvement.

What do you mean by LCU and devices?

Thanks!

LCU is the ...

Re: War In Spain !

I guess the answer is: Based on neither of the 2. But looking closer to WITP AE as I played this one and designed the game to look like it.
But unlike WITP AE our logistics works by "real" devices on map. Railroad and LCU devices move stuff thru the hexes. Losses in devices can cripple the logistics ...

I'd love to see some video's of the game being played - or mechanics being explained.

Are any planned before release?
