Re: Ambush getting better results that regular attacks?

I gotta say I was noticing something similar, where ambushed brigades seemed to be overperforming in the brigade vs. brigade fights.

Re: CSA Trade Bye bye?

how much was your opponent building monitors? wouldn't necessarily address the marine/amphibious balance issues or the the fact that the convoys heading to Elizabeth City, Savannah, and New Orleans are super easy to shut down, but does help see how comprehensively the Union can choke off the Confede...

RE: Operate Function

<t> there was an issue with Commander the Great War where the AI could "cheat" rail transport in that game by having basically unlimited capacity for rail transport to act as a crutch.<br/> <br/> I'm curious for this game, does the AI pay MPPs to perform their Operate (rail transport) function or is...

RE: This versus Commander The Great War

<t> this is basically Commander the Great War on steroids. Commander does have some nice features, like the manpower mechanic in addition to morale, and emphasizes poison gas a tad more. but it has some severe weaknesses (airforce spam early game to reduce efficiency, Germany gets large manpower res...

RE: Can You Play as 1 Country?

<t> by "The Great War", do you mean Commander: The Great War? in that game, I think you are forced to play as everyone unfortunately. I haven't tried mods or anything for it though. <br/> <br/> anyhoo, back to your question for this game, yes you can pick one country to play. when you pick your fact...

I definitely agree. I disagree with OP when it comes to recommending this game. I've really enjoyed it.

RE: East First breaks the game

<t> I haven't played multiplayer yet myself but similar to what was evidenced above by Chernobyl, I also came across a stream on youtube of guy playing a PBEM game where he initially deployed some cavalry at the Masurian Lakes tile which ran right through on turn 1 to Bialystok, and then Brest-Litov...

RE: entrechment vs trenches

<r> <QUOTE><s>
</s>ORIGINAL: fulcrum28<br/> <br/> thanks. But we have trenches that cover two hex sides and another covers 3 of them. But I dont see any penalty to choose 3 instead of 2, so what is the point of the existence of two hex side trenches? <e>
</e></QUOTE> <br/> yeah, I was w...

national morale and casualties

<t> I was wondering how casualties affect national morale? <br/> <br/> I know that cutting off supply and shattering a unit can give you bonus national morale, but does it more heavily penalize the enemy when you shatter a lower supplied unit (beyond them having higher MPP cost to rebuild)? Does sha...

RE: Massive German deployment to Galicia

<t> I am seeing similar behavior from the AI in my games while playing Russia. you don't have much time to tee-off on a lightly guarded East Prussia, Silesia, or Galicia before German troops coming pouring in. I would guess they're redeploying a lot of them and leaving a much thinner force in the We...

RE: Trench level

when you click on a unit you wanna entrench, if that unit has at least 1 action point left, click on the shovel button. I'm not sure if there is a way to automate troops building trenches. I also don't know if there is a hotkey for this.

RE: Quick Pre-Purchase Clarification

<t> it's basically War in Europe map with some changes, so mainly European focus with some accompanying action in Middle East/north Africa and Atlantic. <br/> <br/> I would find it difficult to do a "World at War" scope for WW1. WW2 had a lot more involved in the Pacific Theater with Japan fighting ...

RE: Nations that are not on the map

<t> Japan is definitely present in some of the beta AAR screenshots of the War Maps (in the top left). <br/> <br/> My best guess is there would be events related to Germany's loss of Tsingtao and/or Pacific possessions. I can't comment on what effect they have, such as NM hit to Germany or any reduc...

RE: Regrading the Bulgarian territory/borders before WWI

<t> yeah, you're definitely right that Bulgaria did have control of that area between Kavala and the Ottomans. <br/> <br/> one of the earlier screenshots on Steam does show it was assigned to Greece, though I know the beta did already fix some map issues (e.g. early screenshot Ostrawa had been assig...

unit quality and research chits

<t> I finally purchased War in Europe, having actually played World at War before it. I was kind of surprised at some of the differences War in Europe had, particularly with regards to the Soviets. Their infantry seemed to be lower quality (e.g. corps and army units) while costing less and requiring...

RE: Front size proportions

<t> a maintenance system like Commander the Great War would have pretty far-reaching effects on things such as research capability, reinforcements, etc. Basically anything requiring production points would be impacted by it since maintenance is acting as a sink for production points. In Commander, t...

question regarding multiplayer and other aspects

<t> hello, I've previously played Commander: The Great War which seems similar to this. I am interested in this game and had some questions:<br/> <br/> 1) how will multiplayer work? I've heard it's PBEM (play by email) but are there any plans for synchronous/simlutaneous multiplayer options? will I ...
