Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

HarrySmith (Allies) wins against khunkwai (Axis)
Axis totally defeated all surrendering by June 43.
Khunkwai (Chris) played a good aggressive game fighting right to the end. We did have some great battles but the Axis pushing hard to make gains allowed me to cut units off and wipe out units in low ...

Standard ELO rules. Finally taking the plunge as Allies :?
Great to see Rob, as adapting to Allies is by playing them. Pekka will give you a hard time for sure as a good player. Enjoy

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

hasmat_slith (Axis) win vs HarrySmith (Aliies)
hasmat_slith (Rob) gave me a good thrashing. Russia surrended May/June 43 but played on. My strategy was to try to knock out Italy and Japan. Failed miserably in both Spain, India and then Ireland captured by Germany with Germany then pushing into China ...

Re: HQs assigments failures

Yes I have reported this a few times. Still doing it, not all the time but often at critical times.
Also some fighter units go from auto to intercept only. Again I have learnt now to check this.

Having said all that, and because I am already here, I have set up a game with me as Allies.

So if you are reading this and want to play a rated game as Axis, please see the server.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

I think there is significant room to grow the community, if we could just get the word out about the ELO. My feeling is that there's a sizable # of committed gamers out there, like us, who just don't know about it.

In my experience, there has always been a healthy # of non-ELO WaW games being ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

Hi guys,
Thanks for putting up results table firsteds we all appreciate it. Seems like a lot of players who used to play have either drifted off or no longer playing for various reasons. Hopefully it grows a little as we don't seem to have much of a base anymore? Thoughts

New game started HarrrySmith (Axis) vs Taifun (Allies)
Haven't played before but if I can make a good game out of it, I will be happy. Learnt a few things on the way Hasmat_slith plays axis so hopefully I can utilise some of those .

Re: wevilc (allies) v Old_Shane (axis

Quite enjoying your aar on this game . I think Shane left Barbarossa far too late Sept 21 which I feel is crucial to why he isn't doing so well. You are doing well and my guess is you will win. Keep up the pressure and maybe look at invading key islands in the pacific to force Shane to defend those ...

Re: 3 German Airborne units in a Normal Build Game?

Personally I feel it is easy enough to counter so I don't see an issue. I don't think it is a bug, the designers have allowed additional units in categories but you do so by slowing things like research to pay for these units early. It works well for both sides and Russia can build 3 additional anti ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament - Results

Game Results

Firsteds (Axis) Winner vs kjgokc2007 (Allies)

Firsteds used 3 German Airborne units and early research for German Amph. Assault to invade England early next to impossible to stop. This game needs to be updated to stop this type of attack.

I don't believe its possible to build 3 ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

Fresh from my drubbing by Taifun I'm taking on another excellent player. Hoping to learn some more lessons.

kjgokc2007 (Allies) vs Petedalby (Axis)

New ELO rules apply.

You have the right attitude Pete in that often the best way to learn is to play better players. Players out there shouldn't ...

Re: AAR -Petedalby (Axis) vs Taifun (Allies)

Hi Taifun, great AAR on the game against Pete. Looking at things you do play a lot different than I do which is interesting, so perhaps I need to revise some things? Umeu puts in a number of great points that I tend to agree with.. At this stage up to chapter 5 but a great game by both players. I do ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

What Umeu says is mainly correct. The point I would totally disagree is India not being part of the western Allies. India was definitely part of the western Allies. It was a critical part of the Commonwealth and the game question at the start of whether the British Envoy should declare war on ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

Question on #4: What exactly is 'PH' in this context? Is it historical, i.e. 'no Allied DoW before December 7, 1941'? Or is it some ambiguous timing based on when Japan eventually strikes? I've assumed this is historical but wanted to confirm with others who might be more aware of its ...
