Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

My plan: (I don't play on hardest AI, its not as much fun.)

1. Invest 2 amphip points on turn 1. (Reduce research on a couple of things like Antitank.)
2. Race the armor across south of Paris to take Bordeaux.
3. Take France out in April if possible.
4. Land a German and Slovakian unit in ...

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

Somewhat similar approach except you're raiding the convoy routes and I'm sticking close to home to rebuild my ships to 10. (And kill UK Carriers so they don't attack my transports.) You wait for the UK to attack piecemeal, and you kill, not damage, anything that comes out to challenge you.

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

Use Long Rang Amphip for Edinburgh and Manchester (Use the Slovakian unit.)
Then just the air and airborne to take London.
Then you don't have to worry about the British Navy, or only if its sitting next to the Edinburgh or Manchester landing beaches.

But, if you want to kill the Br Navy. And you ...

Briey Mine Ops Movement

German player cannot move operationally through Briey Mine.
Verdun is at 8, Just taken.
Briey Mine is at 8, Just taken.
Luxembourg City is at 5.
All are German controlled.
There is a ffull strength French Corps in the northern most Maginot line hex.

Operational movement shows I can get TO Briey ...

Re: Russian rail hubs and values based on German attacks

Not quite.

If a city is surrounded, it immediately reduces to a 3.
Units lost while in supply 5 or higher can be purchased back at half price.
Having two units next to a city reduced the value of the city by 1 point per turn.
(Except for Capitals, Fortresses and Secondary Supply sources, I ...

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

Tech or Diplo - difficult question.

I only play solitaire, and I do both. So, against an opponent, I don't know.

London:

If you take Edinburgh and Manchester, the AI will move many units from around London north. Then you have 3 Medium, 3 Tactical, 2 Airborne, and as many short range Amphip as ...

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

Yes, against the AI. If you can take Britain out early enough, then you can usually get Spain and Turkey before the Russians and Americans come in. I did it in my last game, taking France in May 40 and Britain in July.

Turkey joined in November 40, after two points, constantly renewed, since ...

Re: Is it ever worth using diplo on minors other than Spain or Finland?

As the Germans I max diplo on Spain and Turkey. The bonus shifts for SeaLion and Egypt often bring them both well within easy range of joining. I believe the diplo bonus shifts are higher if you have diplo invested.

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

I walk most of the corps and air across Fr, but I Operate the Armies, HQ and Armor.

I find every turn I can save attacking France really helps to bring them down quickly.

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

For Sealion, against the AI.
1. Invest in Amphip 2 pts on turn one.
2. Long range amphip on Edinburgh and Manchester. (German and Slovakian corps)
3. Bring up the Italian AF.
4. Air, airborne and, if possible, short amphip, on London.
5. London will often fall on the second turn of air pounding ...

Re: Invasion of Poland and France (and general axis warplan)

"Interested in a naval strategy (not for Sealion, but a full Barbarossa) that will nonetheless chip away at British morale, preserve your force AND screen against invasion?"

Against the AI.

Start early.

Roads that don't lead to Rhodes

I can't do an amphibious landing on Rhodes from the two hexes NW of the island (easternmost part of the Aegean Sea). Is this a feature or a bug? It doesn't bother me, but thought you'd want to know.

Re: vichy joining allies shortly after france surrender

AHA! AHA!

When France fell, earlier in the game, it was conquered by ITALY
Even though Paris is occupied by a German Corps on 12 July,
There's a little French flag in the middle of Paris, not a German one.
So, like Albania, when the Germans occupy Italy, countries under the control of Italy are ...

Re: vichy joining allies shortly after france surrender

AHA

The triggering event is the occupation of Italy by the Germans.

On 12 July:
Brought Italy to 20%,
Germans occupied Italy,
France Liberated/Surrendered.

Same 12 July start,
Italy ended at 21%,
France did NOT surrender.

But then,
on the July 26 turn
I did bring Italy to 20%,
Germany ...

Re: vichy joining allies shortly after france surrender

Italy started the 12 July turn at 21% National Morale
Italy ended it at exactly 20%,
Triggering the German occupation, (right?)
And France switched on opening the 26 July turn.

The first time it happened, France wasn't triggered until the 9 August turn I THINK.
I don't remember when Italy was ...
