Yugoslavia

Post by jjdenver »

If you just DOW Yugo instead of waiting for the coup event to bring them in on allied side - is there a downside to this? Or it's fine and won't cause diplomatic problems with USSR/USA? ty.

USSR will get a moderate mobilization increase.

One of the up-sides to DOW on Yugoslavia early is that it allows you to reposition your troops onto the Soviet border easier if you plan on having a very early spring Barbarossa. The Yugoslavia coup can sometimes occur 1/2 turns before Barbarossa if you go late. The downside is that you have USSR mobilization / UK does not have to pay the MPP to fund the revolt. When they fund the revolt I believe the Allied player can also move the Yugoslavian troops / reinforce / upgrade them and there is an HQ so it may actually take more than 1 turn to cap them unless you have prepared for it.

Also the Allies get a large positive diplo bonus on Greece, if they fund the coup, basically requiring the Axis to conquer Greece by force, if they don't want it to become Allied (though they might want to do that anyway). This won't happen if the Axis take out Yugoslavia early.
