Re: specific question

As these two issues seem not to be related to each other, I wonder, if the cause of this phenomenon could be, that you encounter it only, if you have (unknowingly) two or more threads of MWIF open. Sometimes, when you exit the game, its thread is not closed and if you open another game, problems as ...

Re: End the current phase button will be grayed out after opening the Victory Totals form

No. Using 5.0.0.1 works just fine for me in multiple games, no issues with the end phase button.

A mirror game actually finished - Victory Check

Maybe not especially cool, but I guess most readers on this board have never finished a MWIF game? Probably <98% of all games started never get finished? For those interested, I want to share some screenshots.

A friend and me bought a copy each of MWIF about 10 years ago, after I monitored the ...

Re: New 07.00.01.00 Public Beta Update Available Now!

This argument I do understand well. I agree, it would be nice to have a computer opponent, which is as capable as an average human opponent, using the exact same rules and not needing to be boosted by some artificial bonuses. Unfortunately I am not aware of ANY strategy game of at least moderate ...

Re: New 07.00.01.00 Public Beta Update Available Now!

No, there is no AI implementation. There is an attempt to develope a kind of scripted computer opponent, but only for the introductory Barbarossa scenario and only for the Soviet side. There is some effort on this "AI implementation" since 3 years and if there is any progress, it is very slow and ...

Re: Supply in Finland

To your 2nd question: There is no FTC for German units in Finland, as Finland is a Minor country and FTC applies only in Major Power home countries on the same side.

Why did you not insert your screenshot in a normal way in your post?

Re: A Layman's Guide to Successfully Editing the MWiF Game File.

Yes, the problem with placement of certain MIL with special characters in name I had in mind. But I assume, they can be placed manually by editing, if they do not show up automatically? Or they show up normally, but there will be a message, they cannot be placed?

Re: A Layman's Guide to Successfully Editing the MWiF Game File.

Worked like a charm, thanks Ronnie!

I did choose ANSI encoding instead of original TNF-8, as you suggested, while saving the file. I see, some German special characters are now missing in unit counter names and unit description. Will this not lead to problems in the future with these specific ...

Re: A Layman's Guide to Successfully Editing the MWiF Game File.

Hello Ronnie,

I finally bit the bullet and started to learn to edit MWIF game files, using this thread and your excellent .docx file. So far I managed to move a unit on map in order to defeat the air rebasing bug and to bring the missing two German CBV units in 5.0.0.1 to the Reserve Pool in game ...

Re: RIP Alan Emrich - legendary game designer

I remember him as a smart guy, who wrote a lot of game reviews and strategy tips in the late 80's and 90's. I think, for a time he was a lecturer at university teaching game design? I liked his input on "Empire Deluxe" computer game by White Wolf Productions and "A House Divided" by GDW/AH.

RIP

...when on average do the two US Economic gear ups tend to occur? Probably will occur in July/August 1941. Is this about right? Am i behind where the norm is?

Re: A Layman's Guide to Successfully Editing the MWiF Game File.

Not really important, but just for the record: If I remember correctly, Steve once mentioned, a new compiler version used by him, was automatically renaming new versions of the code as "debug". He spent some time and effort with customer service of the company maintaining the compiler, but gave up ...

Germany declared war on Poland.
Poland aligns to USA.
Is against the rules. Should not be possible in MWIF.

3) In manual I read that PBEM mode of play is planned for future, and it is aimed to ease the process "by the creation of Standing Orders (SOs) by both players. An SO is more or less a previously written set of instructions to MWiF from the non phasing player, for what to do when the phasing ...

Anyway, it seemed to work exceptionally well, allowing Germany to still come second, even if totally defeated, which is just historical. How did you ...
