Re: Air war comparisons and questions

Another dumb question(s), since I was asking for comparisons to the original War in the East: 1) I see that War in the West does track pilots. Can you execute/play out air missions on your turn in that game, or do you have to wait for an air phase to resolve them all and get the results, like War in...

Re: Air war comparisons and questions

Yes, that would be great to know!

Watching videos of the original War in the East seem to show that individual pilots are not tracked, unless I missed something.

Re: Air war comparisons and questions

Well, darn. I tried ignoring the air planner and doing every mission by hand, but, yes, not knowing what pilot is doing what during the result phase is frustrating. Are any features I mentioned working in the original War in the East? I don't mind going old school if I can get a little more control ...

Air war comparisons and questions

Hello, I have been enjoying my purchase but had some questions about aerial operations. 1) I noticed after week one that my bombers (Axis) had huge "kill" totals compared to the fighters. Does the game count "on the ground" kills in this number? 2) Is there any way to conduct my ...

Re: windows 10 compatibility testing

AH-HA! I uninstalled, registered my CD's serial number here on Matrix, was then able to dl the setup file here, and that seems to work! Now if I could just get For Liberty to work...

Re: windows 10 compatibility testing

Any ideas on how to get Forge of Freedom working on Windows 10 with the CD version? I'm not having much luck with Matrix musket-era games this week.... (tried the above sequence, but I have the CD version with printed manual)

Please help, cannot start, followed the instructions

Hello, I purchased For Liberty yesterday, excited to play, but it won't even get past the autorun menu on my Windows 10 computer. I followed the instructions here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=3946640#p3946640 ... still won't work. The autorun menu opens, I click on For Liberty...

Re: Newbie questions please help

Thanks for the reply! I have to admit, despite not always getting warned of battles, there have been some white-knuckle moments that are very satisfying. The frigate who got himself into trouble, the HMS Pimpernel, was dead in space, I have a construction ship rushing to repair him as three enemy fl...

Newbie questions please help

Hello, I imagine a lot of you are off playing DW2, but hopefully someone can help me with a few questions for DW:U. 1) Is there a way to be notified of every single battle/encounter so I can zoom in to watch/participate? I just had an "automatic" frigate go blow up an enemy gas mining stat...

Re: Questions on automating, naming, etc

I am having fun with it. Started with AI playing both sides, but quickly jumped in as the US as I was seeing there were potential convoy routes their subs should be targeting. Then I realized my surface ships could also use that. Then realized I needed more escort ships pooling at San Francisco. The...

That's very cool! Does the game give battle animations or reports on sub and ship combat like WitP?

Does the Warplan Pacific AI use their naval assets well? Spread out fleets to hit multiple zones?

best Pacific AI ?

<t> In your opinion, which game has the best AI to play against in a Pacific campaign, especially with naval units and invading/liberating islands? I wanted to play as Japan vs Allied AI, but am looking for a game that has the enemy act similar to real life, like with their navy spreading out and tr...

A shame about WitW not tracking U-boats. Oh well, WitP is very entertaining in their sub handling so far.

RE: Anyone a Stats Nerd like me with records?

On December 26th 1941 I have several ace Allied pilots, but the Japanese pilots seem stuck at 3 kills maximum, and have been since the 12th now.

SS Pike is the MVP of the US sub war so far, sinking four ships for 16,365 tons.

Anyone a Stats Nerd like me with records?

<t> Anyone else keep obsessed records of their pilots and submarines?<br/> <br/> I have Word tables tracking subs and pilots, with some limited functions for tracking the battles of surface fleets as well. <br/> <br/> My Pilot scoreboard lists aces: their kills, their fate, and compared to their rea...

RE: automation etc

<t> Quite overwhelming, with much to overlook and thus screw up, so for now I ended up just letting the AI play itself. I watch/track all submarine records/tonnage, monitor ace pilots, and to some degree track all Allied warships, comparing all of these to their historical records thanks to wikipedi...
