Re: PBEM turn length

Usually the limiting factor on the number of turns each day is not time, but how many turns each player is willing/able to do during one day. Time difference can play a huge role in this. I think the usual PBEM pace is one turn per day.

Both players have a lot to do in the first few turns, though ...

Re: OT: New WW2 Movie

It's CGI as almost all movies and series these day.
The Series also seems to be in Production since 2021 and there are real people listed at IMDB.
It is a little bit too soon to have completely AI-generated movies or mini-series at this point.

Re: Any interest in a Scenario "1.5" for 11.26B?

I personally don't really see a strong need for a 1.5 scenario.
If I want to play historically, I will play scen 1 or dababes or a mod that is based on them like Bottlenecks.
If I want to play ahistorically, I will play scen 2 or a mod that is based on it.
If I want to really make a custom game, I ...

Re: Expanding as Japan

LargeSlowTarget is pretty much on point and the Economic primer Kull posted is a good start to understand the basics.
Otherwise, you really can mostly do what you want, no need to follow a step by step guide or "never do this" kind of rules.

I would personally tie expansion decisions on how the ...

Re: House rule 4Es

Again, thanks for sharing your observations.
Interesting that LowN and LowG seem to mainly influence survivability, according to your tests.
I would have assumed that there is a bigger influence on accuracy as well. Guess another interesting test would be to see how a high NavB skill influences the ...

Re: House rule 4Es

This all brings me back to my argument, 'is the house rule for no low naval attacks using HB/MB attacking ships necessary anymore?'

Interesting observations. Did 4E Bombers also only carry one bomb if they skip bombed? This could be a game changer.
Do you also tested this with MB and HB ...

Re: House rule 4Es

That was FIVE hits and not four!
I meant that 4E Bombers would still carry 4 bombs, sorry the way I wrote it is very misleading.

They started training for LowNaval on the 8th of January. I once had ONE 300 kg bomb hit on an IJN CA that sank it - magazine explosion! But B-25s would have six 500lb ...

Re: House rule 4Es

You must have given them some serious training RangerJoe, I rarely got any success with Dutch Bombers in my games so far.

Interesting that their bomb load is halved at 1k and below, I completely forgot about that one.
Although they would have a full bomb load at 2k which is still low enough ...

Re: House rule 4Es

The reason I used the HR until now is because 4E Bombers can be too overpowered in that role.
This can be tested by setting all 4E Bombers at Pearl Harbor to Naval Attack at the lowest possible altitude and (random factor permitting) watch them absolutely wreck KB on turn 1.

My knowledge on this ...

Re: Japanese floatplanes

Some players see it as gamey to use the E13 on subs, because it should actually be too big for them.
This is only an issue in PBEM games though.

I personally tend to stick with the E13A1 until the E13A1b arrives, even though the E15 has a larger range her service rating is bad. For long range NavS ...

Re: Bad leaders - Japan

Think about what is most important for you in the early game and prioritize accordingly.

The following is an example for a possible approach:
Air :

The results from air combat can be vital for success in the early game, so good leaders on frontline and carrier squadrons should be a top priority ...

Re: Good starting guides for new players

Hi everyone, thank you all for your feedback and guidance within this thread.

Another question I had was, how soon until I can start playing PBEM with other players? do I need to reach a certain level of proficiency? I am not competitive, but I do know the AI has its limitations (perhaps its ...

Re: Mersing (Gambit) Gamey?

I think the gamey part in the Mersing Gambit comes into play if the Allied Player has no way of reacting to it.
If the popular turn 1 House Rule "Allies are not allowed to alter air unit settings outside of China" is used to allow the Japanese surprise attack on turn 1, then landing in Mersing is ...

Re: ChatGPT makes these forums obsolete!

My impression/opinion of the recent trend in AI is that a lot of people don't understand what ChatGPT actually is and what it can and cannot do.
A lot of people seem to trust the results a bit too much, ChatGPT can often very confidently present you information, that is completely wrong.(They got ...

Re: Aircraft numbers

You don't need the editor for this. Just open the game and start a new game, with the scenario you are playing, against the Japanese AI. The information you are looking for is in the Intel screen(hotkey: i)->Aircraft Replacement Rates.
The Replacement Rate column indicates how many planes per month ...

Re: Aircraft numbers

Hey Yamaguchi,
you can open the scenario as Allies and lookup the replacement rates for the fighters mentioned, if you haven't already done so.
In my DBB-C Scen 28 game the replacement rates per month are as follows:
P-40N5: 55
F6F-3 Hellcat: 130
P-47D2: 56
With a total of 241 fighter planes per ...

Re: Unasked for Pilots being added to squadrons

I actually had this issue since I started playing WITPAE and always wondered what was causing that.
It can be very confusing for beginners, as the game suddenly does things without your input you don't expect it to do.
Nice to know that has something to do with the scenario settings.

It irritated ...

Re: Blocking the Straits of Johor and tips on assaulting Singapore

Yeah, it is more reasonable if the base in question is considered abandoned by your opponent.
But even so, it all sounds more like a glitch to me than an actual game mechanic.
I wouldn't want to use this and I wouldn't want my opponent to use it.

Don't want to go further off-topic here though.
