Re: Suggestion please

Manual only lists a few terrain type as airbase compatible

The thing is: sometimes hexes indicated as forest and marsh can also host airplanes (I will update the post with actual coordinates)

Well sort of.

You cannot base in a hex with a full forest but you can in hex with half a forest ...

Re: Sub Hunter Bonus

I was not overly concerned about the situation...just liked that I could have ships in Gibraltar and they protect convoys within 24 hexes.

BUT I can't get this to happen in another other port.

Re: Sub Hunter Bonus

Sorry it was Gibraltar I tested and was shocked...I will have to test Liverpool, though remember the subs have to be within 24 hexes.

Re: Sub Hunter Bonus

So I can confirm through testing...ships in port do count...I DID not know that.

And I can not get the bonus to reach there...

NOW were Allied ships there LAST turn and they moved out? Remember, damage to your subs is done on the Allied turn. IF they had ships within 24 on their turn they would ...

Re: Wanted: War Plan-like American Civil War game

Hopefully the scenario builder is strong enough to do things like this...maybe not individual commanders but I can see the possibilities.

I too grew up on Avalon Hill along with a few other very in depth games.

Honestly I am just happy to see the new version going to fast...did not expect anything until 2027...

Can't wait to take it out for a test run.

Al, do not worry about the minor changes...

Rather have you working on the new game over this one. They are minor overall.

Thanks.

Re: Persian oil rail lines

I believe that supply is used for the Axis to move oil. It does not supply the Germans until Turkey joins the Axis.
At that time they are all in rail supply.

But until that they only get port supply which requires shipping, that the Axis does not possess.

I agree armies were not foraging, other ...

Re: Persian oil rail lines

So you believe Iraq and Persia could supply thousands of German forces?
They could barely feed their population.

To add the shipping would have to go far to close to India where the other UK warships are stationed that would surely cause some issues.

There is another issue with supply through ...

Re: Persian oil rail lines

The main issue I have with that is the Axis did not have the shipping to even supply an attack on Persia let alone afford to send repair crews to upgrade rail lines there.

Supply is already to easy in Africa for the Axis...they could barely supply the Afrika Corps...imagine that times 5 at least ...

Re: Persian oil rail lines

Okay I think I have it...

IF these rail lines don't exist Lend Lease does not happen.
Then again there should not be any lend lease through Persia if it is under Axis control.

Could be something built later if the Allies capture the territory.
Honestly I would rather have NO lend lease if the Axis ...

Re: Basic Supply

Well my example is Germans in Persia...all the Germans are in full supply...and the Italians in the ports are in basic.

I have tested it a few times.

I just was not aware that the supply can follow an unsuppliable route, basically up over the mountain range.

Yes I just started playing again and ...

For the Axis though?

There is an Allied one...just did not know it would change if the Axis owned it also.

Persian oil rail lines

I've notice a few oddities in the event file.
Perhaps just a typo.

Not sure why the Axis would convert the rail lines when they go into Russia.
There is a copy of this for the Allies.

Should this one exist?

Basic Supply

Well been away for a while and still find odd things that I did not know. My impression was that basic supply was a max of 24 hexes and it actually had to be "travelable" hexes...but from what I am seeing it just has to be 24 hexes. So it can go over a 20 hex mountain range if it is just owned by ...

Re: Draw supply to a port

You have never been able to embark if the port is out of supply.

It has worked that way forever. Works that way in WPE also.

Re: Odd Issues

I could probably create the Event add for Persian port...but of course would have to test it.

There is an event in the file now but it is missing the port at 222, 25.

So just adding the below should solve it.

Can you also add the port issue in the Caspian Sea with the Axis?
They should not be able to use it as supply.

Hopefully you will take care of the Iraq auto surrender issue too.

Re: Supplying the Philippines

Once a country surrenders it never comes "alive" again...so can't use resources.

So the Philippines just send resources to the US not receive.

NOW if you set up a game just yourself and Japan does not take the Philippines you will see you can send them resources then.

Odd Issues

1) The Axis receives a slight bonus on turn 1 as their "repair" is not consumed so they start with 100% of their PP. The Allies though, on turn one, lose some PP due to the "repair" being processed. Perhaps just remove any PP in Reinforce / Repair. Not a huge deal but boy could they use the few ...
