Re: USSR Surrender won't trigger, Help?!

Yes - you need to get them down to about 35 units (excluding navy). This has been happening to me in quite a few games as well, so now I make sure I kill units rather than weaken them - and definitely destroy any garrisons and AA units along the way. Good luck!

Re: Logic for invincible low strength units and retreats

So we have drug pushers for gamers now>? Is this new to Matrix?

I wonder if it's AI, since all it really did was regurgitate the content of my post back to me in a slightly more elaborate way. And in another post, it advertised something entirely different.

God... this is gonna be bad XD ...

Re: Fighting Typhoon: Before, During and After Action Thoughts

I really enjoyed this AAR. I will miss it! I am not worried that it finished in unusual circumstances - I play a lot of PBEM games where real life intervenes for one or both players, so that was actually realistic. I enjoyed the detailed notes and screen shots. One thing I couldn't see was NM for ...

Re: SC WWII: WaW - Update v1.20.00

Make sure the Show/Hide Info button is on, this is the blue one on the right of all the buttons in the centre panel.

Actually I don't think that is the problem. We know about toggling the blue info button. What I think happens is that in 1941 the 'zone markers' are close to Warsaw and the ...

Re: SC WWII: WaW - Update v1.20.00

In a recent game I thought the zone markers for 18 units near Warsaw were missing BUT they showed up when I got close to the limit (or perhaps over the limit). Not sure about the Pacific zone markers.

Great AAR. Keep it up.

I would be interested in your thoughts on escort carriers. Lots of good players build them. What are their strengths and weaknesses. How best to use them? Thanks.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

I asked in an earlier post for a list of the various optional rules that can be adopted by players of ELO games. The event discussed above shows one reason why that would be useful. Even a checklist or something would be useful for us new ELO players.

Good idea. Let's start a list. Here is my ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

I think it is now generally recognised that an Allied DOW on Japan before PH historical date is out of bounds. However this is a fairly recent development and some people are still catching up. It hasn't happened in any of my recent games (and I play a lot of PBEM, both ELO and non ELO). The game is ...

Re: Bug or just the way it goes?

I think any unit in Bordeaux 'surrenders' when France falls. Similar to units in Tunis or Damascus surrendering. I have seen it in lots of games. Allied units in North West France (e.g. the ports) survive to fight on.

The game then moves any Axis units in newly formed Vichy to occupied France or ...

I have taken up the Axis challenge. A bit rusty and it will be interesting to check out the new patch features. Normal ELO rules. See you in Warsaw.

Re: SC WWII: WaW - Update v1.20.00

Lots of great changes here. Look forward to trying the new version. Thanks for all the hard work on keeping this classic title alive.

Seems like strategic bombing will be more challenging, but perhaps balanced by slower AA buffs.

I accept the challenge! A bit rusty as Axis but let's go.

Just let me know if you want any special house rules. Personally I don't like any diplo on DEI but happy with everything else.

Re: Blue Hawaii

I am in a PBEM game as Allies where I lost Hawaii / Oahu (long story). The NM hit every turn is absolutely killing me. In my view it is worth investing in defending Oahu / Hawaii or retaking it quickly if it is lost. I don't think Midway is a game changer.

Someone on the forum will know the exact ...

Re: harbor not switching sides

It is quite common. Once the naval unit has left you need the land unit to move from the hex and the port will flip immediately (no need to wait a turn). Obviously you need enough action points to move out and move back in (or have another unit to move in). Happens all the time if Japan takes Guam ...

Still around but having a short break. Over 100 PBEM games, half on ELO. Worked on the Pacific beta but its not the game for me (despite strong interest in Pacific theatre).

Still visit the forum every now and again.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

ELO ended:

Firsteds (Allies) defeated Harris45 (Axis). A massive counter attack in the Pacific split the Japanese Empire into small pieces. Axis was threatening in Russia but the overall Axis position was poor. Axis resigned in 1943 I think after Italy surrendered. One of those slightly messy games ...

[ELO ended]

ThunderLizard11 (axis) [WIN] v. firsteds (allies) [LOSS]. Allies resigned Dec' 45. Great game with excellent turn returns by firsteds (2-3 per day). Allies went with a Pacfic first strategy. Japan was crushed and folded up mid-44. However, by then Germans had taken down Russia and ...
